G'day all!
I'm Russian native, from Vladivostok.
In Russian Far East used japanese cars (right hand drive) and bikes are very popular.
I'd like to ask, is it so popular in NZ as well or not?
I mean exactly japanese models: 400cc, and others wich have frame number (XXXX-XXXXXX) instead of VIN (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX)
What do you think about japanese versions of japanese bikes?
Thank you,
Alex

Oh, thanks, But how do you buy motorcycles in NZ usually? I mean where? Used vehicles dealers, private persons, or order from Japanese auctions by local trade companies? What type more popular?

We have a lot of used Japanese cars here, infact for a while we were one of the biggest markets to import Japanese cars, now we are outnumbered by countries like yours, although there is still a very strong market here for them. As far as used Japanese bikes we have a lot of the 250's and 400's, from sportsbikes like CBR250/GSXR250/RGV250/ZXR400/CBR400 to bikes like the Spada 250 etc.
Typically the suspension is set up for lighter riders, and some of the bikes come in restricted form, either through power limits or 180km/h speed limits.

There are a few companies who are importing bikes from Japan, and will order directly for you. Some people have the right contacts or use other peoples to import themselves a bike. However most sales in New Zealand would be local, either from a dealer, the internet (see above for two examples), or from a local newspaper.
