What's the go with rallies anyway? I have no interest in staying in a tent (pathological hatred of camping) but love riding my bike. If you're not intending pitching a tent could you like rock up on the bike on the Saturday morning and head back on the Saturday evening?

Dude the vincent is the best rally nz has to offer (i feel any way). No intrest in staying in a tent, get pissed and stay awake there will be sombody to talk to. No point in turning up saturday morn and going home in the evening you might as well just go for a ride. But to answer you q then yes you could do that but the cool stuff happens at night.

They have band and all the stalls open on both nights.... I usually prefer the Friday night at the Vincent not so crowded, and last year friday was awesome nioght.... however all the action is usually on the Saturday afternoon evening, night, till early hours in the morning.

Awesome w/e people its been 21yrs since I was last at the Vincent (hold my age damn well really aye <--- not actually a question)
Ride down was in a 30+ degree heat and within a 1km stretch it dropped to the single digits, then rain... farking heavy as rain. The new Macna gears held out well and infact keept me dry altho the gloves and boots were water logged, but not much you can do about that.
Into the Godley Resort Motels at Lake Tekapo... what a shit hole soon updated the budget room for a superior room, which wasnt much better but at least it had a shower and they did give it to us at the cheaper rooms price.
sat morn, brm brm... of early on the Twizel road stuff all traffic made for a decent and consistant pace. Omarama for Brunch then on to Alex and the rally site, after the Guzzi had a wee un planed protest while out passing a car in the Lindis... a sit on the side of the road to think about things and it decided to play ball again (farking Itilian electrics)
Mint Night catching up and chasing Woodybee around the site, beer, tatts, beer, tits, beer naked wallys willys running at me, beer musc, beer, chat, beer & sleep.
Sunday was a reasonable start and about the 1st KBer to pack up and piss off. Headed straight for Omarama for Brunch again and home on yet another empty road and not one copper all weekend... another w/e screwed over, loved it will be back, and not in 21yrs either.

What a great rally the Vincent turned out to be. I was told it was usually a small one but it looked pretty large to me.
Great to meet Scumdog, FREE2B, Mr Sensible, NighthawkNZ, McJim and a couple of others. There is a nice sense of community. In fact I might mention that I met a couple of the lads the preceding evening while browsing at their Ducatis but for some reason that amiable discussion had disappeared from their memories next morning when I met them....again.
We really need an unofficial flag or something at rallies if the official one isn't available.
Thanks everyone.

What's the go with rallies anyway? I have no interest in staying in a tent (pathological hatred of camping) but love riding my bike. If you're not intending pitching a tent could you like rock up on the bike on the Saturday morning and head back on the Saturday evening?
Nice to see you made it. Wasn't so hard after all eh... ( I mean staying up to wee hours of Sunday morning

Just out of Roxburgh a drongo on a sporty overtook us and three cars on a left-hand bend into oncoming traffic and a few seonds later his mates on a M109 two-up and a Brit classic overtook the same cars and us into oncoming traffic too.
12km down the road there they were parked up at the Millers Flat pub.

Very enjoyable ride from Dunedin on Friday evening. Kemet, Xaria, Free2be, Outbakal, Nighthawk, Botb, Neil (BSA Club) & Xknuts departed @ 6.30pm. This proved to be the ideal time as even though we all donned our wet weather gear it was not needed as we scouted around the darkening clouds that hovered over the Rock & Pillar range between Outram & Hyde. By the time we got to the Kyeburn Junction turning west towards Oturehua we could see the sunrays streaming through the clouds in the distance. Dusk was falling and the colourful red light show we got in the distance was spectacular.
I thought we were all stopping at Chatto Creek Pub for grub, but Outbakal cruised on by and the sheep followed. It was probabgly just as well as we only just got our tents up b4 total darkness. Talking of tents, did anyone notice the biggest tent there? Neil (thanks Mate) volunteered me to help Kemet & him to put it up. 1 hour later we had the Taj Mahal secure. a full 2 room layout which we were to use as our party tent when the Band stopped @ 2.00pm
Bloody hot at the Long Track Speedway Champs @ Oamakau on Saturday. Sun cream all round, then back to the site for a swim in the Manuherikia River about 7.30pm. That was superb.
Rosie & Shotgun rocked into the night. Good stuff.
I haven't missed the Vincent in years and not likely to either.
1) Outbakal bringing the Sunday espresso to some soreheads
2) Otago's "Blue & Gold". Free2be's "VN900" with Xknuts "Vegas"

Picture this!!!! Mr S and I are cooking up the big eats on pictured table. Doing it Shrek style, dent the cans, sit on there side atop the cooker. When the dents pop out, dinner is hot and done, good to eat, you could say!!!!!!
Well, Mr S, fuked up biggy time. Terrorist is my instantdiscription of the man.
Already my cloths were in the wash, getting cleaned from somthing going wrong Sat night.
Back to dinner, Mr S stated he thought his "Big Eat" was about done. Yup very true the tins dents well gone, and the ends bulging a little. He was figuring out some method of getting the tin off the cooker. I was thinking "WELL GET IT DONE ALREADY AND STOP PISSING ABOUT:angry:" There was no time at all to actually spit the words from my mouth. In a "Cracking instant" "BANG FUKIN BOOM!!!!!" I turn there is this exploding "Big Eat":shit:. The contents headed straight for me, smack all over me arm and body, a good and painful burn to me wrist, the explosion threw me from my chair in fear.
Once composed and standing again, givin the bod a quick W.O.F. Assesing the pictured table.... Mr S's dinner was about "shot". The table was covered, the lid of the can on the table with all the food. "Where is the tin?" A hunt found the can a good 5mtrs in the oposite direction in the bush.
Never have I seen such a thing..... there is more to the story. But as you can tell by the pic discription Mr S :sick:was making a major missrepresntaion of events.:nono:
Funnily enough though, he cooked all following "Big Eats" in a pot over the cooker..... I am on the other hand, suffering flash backs, traumer, and fear.

Watcha taking about? Has already been explained...think McKenna...:wari:
Now I hope you dont think it was me, as I only took pics of the tug o war. did not snap any of the helmet race. You did look rather excited by it all though.
Think you got rather excited too big boy. :2guns:
Well seeing Mr S spying down the Helmet racers, it seems there may have been a twisted trend. Look below to see the groping Mr S geting a hand full from Scummy:jerry:
WTF? Why are you taking photos of SD's "parts"?

Hey Dudes and Dudess's
What a fortnight eh, what with the woodystock and the Vincent. Fuck, I really love all this bike stuff, find my niche, and love it to bits.....dont want to ever stop.
Got down there On Friday arvo, with a contingency of 12 Queenstown folk, god it was cool to ride with a group, until they took the short cut through to Alex, :( twoz well wyndy, and me and Tex took our time, but still belted along.
We missed all the rain coz our friendly giant "Bob (who was singing his heart out to the whole camp on Saturday night....tee hee), lives in Cromwell, so was telling us when the rain had gone, so we arrived bone dry:niceone:
I haven't seen as many folk there on a Friday before. Once I had calmed my heart and bike down, (Tex has never felt so hot, poor boy....... my triumpy btw!), I sunk a beer, then a few more, and did the rounds, ran into Scummy and Chris, which is always a total pleasure.......then embarked on dancing and singing, and doing more rounds. The Vincent has to be one of the best rallies, but I say that about everyone, guess I just love rallying eh:woohoo:
Ran into my Invers crowd, who I love to bits, and vix gave me a chilli concoction of a supposed drink, which made steam come out of my ears, and felt quite queezy, my mate mike said "come with me hun and be sick".....what a gentleman, saves getting hit on eh girlies.
Anyway didnt think I had it in me but woooooooooooooo, once the fingers tickled that gag point, bloody hell me feet were off the ground, to good old mike was holding me round the stomach and at one time, I saw my feet dangling freely:eek: and saw people upside down, and chucked up for England!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!so that kinda sobered me up, so I swept away the remnents of puke from my mouth, downed 3 pints of water, and started again. Mike if you read this you are my everlasting friend, thank you so much for that....but equally god how embarrasing!!
Danced myself into oblivion, even without IDB there to dance madly with, it was fun fun fun, with much chatting and socialising. But dude, it rocks more with you.................
Woke up with the fucking head form hell the next morning. The QT crew, cooked pancakes and bacon, so after my tent was shook for the 2nd time, I ventured out and back inside quick for my sunnies, then took post by the barby, ate everything there was drank the mosst gorgeous cup of tea, didnt say a word to anyone, as at that stage couldnt remember how to talk!! and went back for a kip.
When I am rich, am going to employ a manboy to feed me food and fetch and carry stuff, as its all too hard the following morning, eh dudes.
Anyway, the thought of putting tex through a beasting made me feel queezy again, so I jumped on the back of Cromwell Bobs Rocket, and yep the smile starts and doesnt stop. Fuck the acceleration on it, is amazing........Thank you Bob, he has a Union Jack Helmet, I have a St. George, so we were Jack and George for the day.............Ha Ha
We did the rounds, lost Blue Lake found it, did some paddling, went back, had a toot, a beer and dunk in the lake, watched some tiny willies wearing helmets chase up and down, (was actually tempted to do that race, shorts and nothing else.....oooooer.................) anyway, then I saw the worlds smallest speed bike, and I stole it for about 1 hr, hooning around on that was so much fun, I heard someone shout, she pushes that quicker than her triumph (bastards), but fuck it was fab fun....
I then got adopted by two kids called Conner and Daniel who were absolute sweeties, so we hung out till bout 9pm during which time, Dangerous, Rashika and I had pal'd up and were hanging out too. In the end, there was a huge assortment of folk in a little circle was well cool. After much goading mainly by Dangerous, IDB turned up, god he has as much will power as I do which is that of a Kit Kat!!!!:Punk: Dangerous attempted to chase after me to stop me knocking IDB off his bike (tend to get excited when I see the dude!!) so poor old Dangerous got a backward throw of beer for his trouble and somehow we ended up (or I ended up on the floor)........
So with eveil twin in tow, the night of fun began with jumping around pretending we could dance, air guitaring with lots of volunteers, singing till I couldnt talk, more tooting, at one point in time I think (well twice), I bared my breasts,,,,,,,,think the occasion over took me, and ha ha to see those blokes faces, was worth it almost, as most folk know I havent done a booby competition................yet!
Anyway, stayed up till about 4am, and then it was a panic pack and we all set off back, initally it was great riding with the pack until they started to go faster and faster, and I though bugger it, not for me........so I hung back and took in the scenery......................................Frigg in hell why do folk get comopetitive we all know we can ride, but show offs............honestly.....tut tut tut
All in All, one really fucking stonkingly good rally, must have been good as I am swearing a lot.
Now for the Wheatsheaf, me and a couple of mates, are camping in Tekapo for the night, then riding to the rally for Saturday night fun.
Coi 4 now.
Hugs and stuff, your Woodybee.....Always up for.
PS Might take up Mini Bike racing......God I loved that.........Tee Hee

No:crybaby: I could have, as believe it or not I was up early enough!!!!!:eek:but didnt have my javelin boots, or any kit with me, as when I packed it wasn't the priority on my mind........having said that it would have been a crack doing the javelin in my bike boots, least there would have been a bit of support in my ankles..............so feeling a bit mad with myself now.................:angry2: Just was having fun knocking around with the queenstown mob and wanted to ride home with them........hindsight though I should have bitten the bullet and just gone to Dunedin....
Anyway, getting focused for October 2009, when the World Masters in on in Sydney Australia,:apumpin: and folk are already talking about it......so its going to be a biggy. .....going to have to get sponsered for that.
So any loaded folk out there, who have business's etc.,for tax write offs ;) (as I intend to compete and win)......... and could assist woodybee for, say.....getting sports equipment over there at least.?
See at this years Crazy Rabbit Rally...............:niceone: :wavey:
