The wind isn't blowing in Welly.

Came home on from a week away Saturday. Came around the bays and saw the beach volleyball was getting blown about and it has blown hard since.

Now on Wednesday its finally calmed down. My daughter reckons its because she's come home for a couple of weeks - let's hope it holds out - enjoy the time Welly people. We finally bothered putting the umbrella up and ate lunch outside.

You insane?

Could be - is it that bad even though you are there?

What you talking about?

Riffer certainly wouldn't have hit 31km/hr at our house today and it is just so still now. When's the normal storm due back?

To still, hot as heck, and we do get a few calm days over summer, I could look in my diary at tell you which ones because for us they are killers.
Our current client is wondering why the big Macrocarpa we are removing still has a full top canopy while we have all but dismantled the rest of it. Nothing like a 15m wide sun shade when your working your butt off. The rest comes down tomorrow.
I came home and headed for the nearby swimming hole with my labrador in tow, and aside from the dog trying to rescue me every minute it was bloody bliss.

Please Wellington, bring back the breeze

How nice. It's warm already, and average windspeed overnight has been... wait for it ...

Average windspeed 0.0 kmh (0.0 kts)

Happy now Merv?

I think Grays Road is calling... taking the medium length way to Tawa today for work. Pity I have meetings or else I could have been persuaded to go via Paekakariki.

We normally get the westerlies at our place and for the past two days we've had an easterly and my god, it's been hot! Every door and window open and still no breeze. Mind you, we were secretly pleased as we've just hosted Andy and Jodie (Orangebox from KB) and we were able to sit out on the deck and eat breakfast this morning! We even went to the beach last night about 7pm and it was HOT. I'd love to know what our 'official' temperature was last night - 33C was showing on the Post Office clock tower during the day. We had to have TWO umbrellas up as the sun was low and there was not enough shade with one. Isn't it lovely? What's the best the weekend will turn to crap, as usual?!

Had a picnic on the lawn with the kids last night (next door neighbours were angry! How DARE we have those children up so late!) and watched the ISS streak across the sky. We ate two watermelons.
