Hmm back in 2003 I sold my RG150 for $1,500 nothing wrong it (1998 model which most of them tend to be) and less K's than yours).

I also paid less for it when I brought it (got it at a steal) personally I wouldn't pay much more than a grand for an RG especially when you never know if theyve been raced by previous owners or not.

But to be honest who knows less RG's around now so maybe that makes them worth abit more I remember the pistons etc.. being hard to get for the RG's and people in france were always interested in our Rg150's as they shared the same bore size as some 500CC over there.

They're appreciating due to the learners market. All the 250's are way out of reach for most people so they're turning to the good ol' 150's.

Then again I sold 2 RG's to Koba for $1500. Needed the money to keep the newly aquired 400 going, didn't want to get rid of them really. One was in pieces with a seized engine and the other wasn't so mint, but I still reckon that was a steal. At least I managed to get my minimoto's with some of the money :D

I'm keen to get another 150 when I can afford it. Especially a KRR150, they're awesome.

240kph speedo????

It tends to lose a bit of accuracy at 180kph from experience. However I have heard of people fiddling with the standard engine (37hp) and squeezing 45 or more ponies out of them.

The instruments are the same ones as the RGV250 I think.

150cc, 180kph you say?

And yeah, GPX speedo only has 200 clicks, 30 of which are completely useless

Yep, RG150 goes like a cut cat. I've had mine at 180 indicated.

I think you can get $3000 for it easy. Retard Me (Trade Me) is your friend :)

Having owned one of these I feel qualified (enough) to comment...which isn't very qualified but it seems you don't have to be 'all knowing' to contribute in this place anyway Infact it's more fun for the more crap you can talk ...must get post count up

Firstly I'd say GOOD LUCK getting a figure of 2-3K...from memory they were 3k new and that is a shite load of k's. Recall having to rebuild (well hubby actually did but I did observed and made sandwiches ) mine a few times...how many times you rebuilt this one?[/SIZE])

...also maybe I'm just being blunt...well actually no I am blunt ...they are effing ugly in that particular colour scheme!!! Had the exact same one...though I do remember being pleased to find nail polish in that particularly 'special' shade of purple and orange...hmmm purple and bright orange - funky!

The learner market might be a bit dry 250's but if you consider that people can go out and buy better, faster and way cooler (oh and better smelling! 2 stroke YECH!) second hand bikes for about the same money I'd expect you'd be catching someone with their brain switched off to pay that much. YAY for Trademe!!! :niceone:

Personally - If I was to consider a 150 I'd go for the KR.

if you want 3k for it you will be waking up in a sticky bed...(wet dream)

you SHOULD get $1500>>> $2500 tops...:2thumbsup

That would be my estimate. I sold my 2003 KRR150 for ~$2450 ($2200 plus a new set of tyres for the sherpa) in October.
Maybe I would have got more if I'd listed it on trademe, but I suspect not.
2-stroke 150's are cool little bikes, but learners, not knowing so much about motorbikes, tend to suspect that they are high-maintenance, slow moving, handgrenades. And thus don't want to sink much money into one.

Say no more....
Value is in the eye of the person parting with the cash... If you still have it mid to end of february I may be interested

the purple is rather offensive but i think the silver and black with pink strips on my other one is worse i think close 2.5k is a fair price for it its only done just over 2000kms prbly less than 2000 if the speedo was acurate its only just run in

Spoken like a true cage driver. More cc does not mean more speed. Especially not when you bring 2 stroke technology into the mix. Remember a 2 stroke engine will probably put out nearly double the horsepower of the equivalent 4 stroke (RG150 = 2T Single Cyl 37hp versus FXR150 = 4T Single Cyl 20hp).
2 stroke 250s are scary wee bastards.:scooter:

About right I think, but you never know your luck in a big city.

I Know for a FACT ( www.cliffhanger.org.nz ) that my one got to an indicated
ONE HUNDRED and NINTEY KAYS!
Speedo was lying tho, it was really only doing just short of the ton, 160.68kph.
That was with the numberplate taken off too.

Oh, and my old GSX250 went 161.83 as its best time :P

If anyone wants to see how fast thier bike goes for real (and speedos REALLY LIE) there is another event on soon.

Also two stokes generally run less compression and have other factors that make them less than a true 2x a four stroke.
Rallysport use engine cc time 1.8 for twostrokes and rotaries (never seen a 2stroke out there...) whats that, 270cc? works out about right actually....

Reminds me of racing 150's with wee Paul, he crashed in front of me at the sweeper at Manfeild (twice) and then told me in the pits that you can't get around the corner at an indicated 220km/h.

Just my 2c on the thread: There is a distinct difference between what something is worth and the price you will get for it at sale time.
There's a sucker born everyday and for every sucker there's the equivalent wise man.
