I know this is not the "sports bike" section, but value the forum members viewpoint on this forum.
Just want to gauge the viewpoint of others here, as to what the value should be on my bike, to sell it ?
It is on here, and tardme at $12500 ono, but have had no interest so far, although 200+ people have looked at it on tardme ....
take a look and give honest evaluations about where it should sit price wise to sell.

Helpful comments appreciated.
Cheers,
Grant.

it might be worth 12k, but if theres no takers, you just have to bite the bullet, and lower the price if you need to move it quickly.
10K should get them en quiring.
Sorry if this offends, but personally I think now that the easy credit is starting to dry up, the buyers with money are starting to take control of the market.
Lots of folks will feel the mortgage squeeze this year, so heaps of bikes will come on the market. It's a buyers game now. MHO

You need to think about who the potential buyers are. A brand new 08 1250 Bandit is not much dearer, and a SV1000 is the same price. Therefore I don't think you'll get many takers at over $11,500.

Fair comment. I personally think you are getting more bang for your buck with the Honda, but thats just my personal opinion, choosing between those two bikes when I made my purchase.
I appreciate your comment and point of view. Thanks

bell said the same thing the other night. 400+ views but no enquiries. I wouldn't use the number of views of any indication of interest. In days gone by, you didn't have that information.

I'll raise you by $1.00.....
If you want to gauge the buyers interest, start an auction at $4000, keep your reserve where you are comfortable to sell it and see what happens.
With Trade me I have generally found that about 5% of viewers are actually considering buying a bike and only one or two are actually interested in that specific model.
Good luck, it's certainly a slow time of year to sell.

Trademe is an odd place - most people are wanting a bargain.
Unfortunately - if you want to sell anything in a hurry - and tell people they will take advantage of that (wouldn't you?). I also agree you could reword the add to better explain the value of the mods you have made but ultimately you could do better removing the extras and selling them seperately.
Once a bike is used - regardless of the km's you are competing with imports and unsold examples as well - makes it tough.
Its going to be a rough 6 months or so. Easy credits dried up so you need to decide just how badly you need it sold. Sorry - looks like a nice bike.

Good point about the auction and setting a reserve. I may well try that!

Good points. I may list the value of the extras or as you say, sell them separately. Thanks.

Amen to that... An awful lot of tyre kickers and test pilots on tardme. As repugnant as it sounds, have you thought about trading it at a dealer? It will be painfull pricewise, but also swift and free from test pilots and morons offering to swap it for their "pimped out drift spec 1992 Nissan Skyline".
Best of luck

Thanks. Yes I have thought about a trade in situation, but the bike I'm interested in is cheaper considerably than the CB, so no dealer will look at a trade down, as there is no money in it for them, even if I say I want panniers and a top box ... or whatever ... you know ?
I won't be entertaining any test pilots coming for a thrill. They will need the readies ... and convince me they are genuine. it's a lot of bike for most people, and I don't fancy it being dropped!!
Cheers.

Chat to your local dealers. Explain that your in the market for another bike, and ask if they know of any prospective buyers for it.
If yours sells, they make a sale possibly too. Everybody wins, and alot of dealers arn't in the Big Bike market too heavily.
Worth a shot.

Unfortunately all the local dealers are holding big bikes at the moment, new and second hand. I don't think that many bikes get sold in Whangarei, but I could be wrong. I do see the same bikes in the dealerships week after week. I think a lot of them up here make their bread and butter out of selling quads and farm bikes. I think that is by far the biggest sales area in Northland for all of the major franchises.
I think I will need to sell it privately to someone who is after this type of big bike for touring or hooning !! lol :innocent:

It may be worth your while to put it on a dealer floor in Aucksville.

Yes that could be a possibility. Only problem with that is they want about $1500 commision, and I'm not going to drop that as well as the price drop from new. Bit of a rip off. ... However, I'm sure it will sell, and I'll be able to order an 08 KLR .. .. or something :soon:

I'm listing a bike on TM for my bro at the moment.
It has had 349 views in the last 2 days.
It's been up as a classified for 3 weeks now and I've had only the one enquiry e-mail and it came today.
Good things take time.
Anyone want an 05 Husky WR250 2-smoke enduro bike?

Sometimes you'll get a good response sometimes not, its like the weather.
Have you listed it in the Trade and exchange?

No I haven't tried listing it anywhere else. I feel that TM is pretty good, and if someone is after a bike .. they generally look there first.
Cheers.

I usually use both, and most of my sales have been with Trade and exchange. Because you can also list the advert online, and its a hell of alot cheaper than trade me.
Just listed my car on trade me, and shesh! didnt realise how expensive the listing costs are...
