Geez, you walked away from a highside? Any injuries and what gear were you wearing!

Ouch mate. Crashing fuckin sucks. Especially a highside. I'm surprised you're even contemplating repairs. Surely it's totally borked?

Rear brake causing skid causing let off rear brake causing highside by any chance?

You will need a tap and dye set to get this out...

Drill through the part which is stuck use a drill which is not too big make sure it dosent strip the thread when you drill through.

Use a screwdriver and hammer, try chipping away at the part of the bolt which is left in there get a couple of mm's out so this is a starting point..

Get the tap set, and screw it into the hole, this will cut a new thread, when you screw it, it will use the exsisting one as a guide.

Will find a pic of what Im trying to explain,..

Step 1 - This is the tool kit you would require to do this properly...

You can get smaller ones from places like Chevpack and any other engineering supplier.

Step 2 - The pic here is the tool for boaring out the left over bolt which is stuck

Step 3 - Inserting the tool then you screw it in. It may take several attempts, screw it quarter of a turn in to take a cut then back out to get rid of the filings, then go back in, take another cut and back out... this creates the new thread.

(remember to note weather the rest of the bolts on the bike are metric or imperial and use the correct type so it matches the rest of the bike)

I'm sorry but this is not the correct way to do it.
Doing it in the manner you have suggested can easily go wrong.
The best way to do it is to drill a hole in the center of the bit you wish to remove. Then insert an easy-out (extremly course left hand thread). Turn the easy-out anti clockwise and the remaining part of the handlebars should unscrew.
Important - Be very gentle. Don't apply to much pressure unless you want the easy-out to snap.

And before you say "what the fuck do you know". Its my job to know.

Just as well you know then seeing as it's your job ;) Seriously that is the correct way ( its also my job to know ), easy-out and then run a tap down to clean the thread up and it's all sweet.

Oh by the way, tell me guys, how many chicks like me know about this stuff? Im curious to know....

Most of my biker chick mates have no idea what tools are in a workshop even just the basics like socket set, rachet, alan keys, metric and imperial bolts etc.....and when this happens on their bikes they think it ruins the performance of the engines some how!

Doctors cost too much? Only if you're sick. Not if you have an accident.

Dude go to the hostipal and tell them "I crashed my motorcycle and I think my ankle is broken. It really hurts here.." and pont to where it hurts. :doctor:

Won't cost a cent thanks to your friendly ACC system. Might as well get back some of your rego ;)

If you go to a normal dr then yes they might charge a "part charge" of around $20 to cover the bit ACC doesn't cover.

What he said Dude...Get yourself to a friggan hospital Now....It will cost more if you have to do reconstruction surgery later on in life.......Lots Lots more.

Btw if you do have a broken ankle I would say that due to Pain , it would be very very hard for you to stand on it....Even Sprained ankles are extremely painful.

Anyhoot for a professional opinion , only a doctor can make this call....GO henceforth and visit your local morgue...I mean Hospital.

Yes an easy out was my first choice too,but will only work with a solid bar and not a hollow one (tends to expand the hollow tube and lock it in .).Does the bike have solid bars? Also make sure you use the correct size drill with the correct size easy out.Be gentle because if if you snap off the easy out tip it will be a bugger to get it out.:buggerd:Drills don't work so well on hardened steel tips.

If you're still trying to find an easy out (possibly called ezi-out), the last set I got was from Mitre10, though a fair while ago. Repco should also have them, as would Super Cheap (but I'd beware of inferior quality there). Haven't bought any for years, and have lost the set I had  , but from memory they weren't overly expensive.

if the easy out works properly (ie if you do the job properly) then you won't/shouldn't use a tap - the easyout is only an extension of the original piece anyway. my advice is DON'T use a tap, unless you know 100% what the original screw pitch is, and you have the exact threaded tap.

about what size is the threaded portion (in mm)?

#edit# just re-read the thread. forget the handlebar. get the frame checked for straightness first. could all be a waste of time. an 80k highside is gonna hurt most bikes. terminally. i presume you were insured?

Also i snaped the handle bar and the threaded part is still in there with nothing sticking out ...... how do i get it out ?

Don't worry about getting the bar out. Mine snapped off too and the replacement clipon comes as one unit (not just the bar).

I got a bunch of parts from: http://www.richardhyosunggvgt.com/cometgt125250650rs.htm

I second what marty says.Check your frame out first and if using an easy out a tap shouldn't be necessary.

if the easy out works properly (ie if you do the job properly) then you won't/shouldn't use a tap - the easyout is only an extension of the original piece anyway. my advice is DON'T use a tap, unless you know 100% what the original screw pitch is, and you have the exact threaded tap.

about what size is the threaded portion (in mm)?

#edit# just re-read the thread. forget the handlebar. get the frame checked for straightness first. could all be a waste of time. an 80k highside is gonna hurt most bikes. terminally. i presume you were insured?

not the most mechanically minded of people... had a look at the frame and it seems to be ok ...... not that i know how to tell..... only thing worrying me so far is the seat wont go back on :( and nope no isurance..... was waiting to get my licence before i got it :(........warr i was home all day yesterday... albeit playing on the computer with headfones on none the less at home :P......

HMMMM riding without insurance,I guess you've learned your lesson.Yes its possible you've bent your frame or sub frame(if it has one(not familiar with your bike) or seat(unlikely).Do a search on frame checking or start a thread requesting help checking subframe.Best would be take it into a shop to get checked over.I guess you could roll it along a level surface and check if it pulls to one side.Goodluck.:weep:

Have seen the damage ... :( Shame about the tank.
Your clutch bar... Mmmm I'll tell you how before I turn up with a drill and easyout. I would be surprised if we can get it out. Tis about a 19mm shaft that is broken off in the clamp that goes around the fork tube.
Can give it a try but may end up being easier to remove the top triple clamp and take the bit into an engineering place.

There isnt an easy way. Unless you can get a long screw-driver down the whole length to break the glue you can only cut it off. You'll have to get a new set :(

So when you jump and land does it hurt, say along the side of your foot, or along the toes....?.

If it does it still can be broken, best to get it looked at still, plenty of bones in your body can break without feeling too much pain, even when weight is applied.

If you worried that you shouldnt been riding cause you not legal or something, its easy to say you slipped down some stairs etc, but then if you was legal go to hospital you dont have to pay.even if yous not legal you dont have to pay .

youd be a crim and crims in nz get first class service lol.

From what you have said earlier re the cost of that bar. I'd be off to F1 Engineering in Colombo St to see what he would charge to turn something up.
Sure to be a quicker way to get back on the road. Just take the 2 broken bits down to him. First St on the left the other side of Mobil Garage on K'Rd.

Crashes suck. Lucky you walked away from that one. Hope you get the bike back together ok. As it was a high side, make sure that you check the forks for runout and the frame for any cracks or damage, they can really come back to bite your arse somewhere down the road.
