I can help you on everything except the bike, for a small amount of coin, ie less than a grand more like $600 thats all new gear with the Quasimoto reputation with it.
Drop me a PM

When you buy a bike, don't buy a Chinese one....buy something bulletproof like a Suzuki GN or so. Very capable and quite cheap. Take a few different bikes for a test ride see what you like....
Good luck...:niceone:

Didn't even know I didn't know that....:(
I know that a lot of Japanese engine componentry was made in China, and having worked on a few Chinese bikes I believe it is safe to say that the Engines aren't that bad....But the rest is. The metal used is made of Marshmello...The major Japanese dealers are better to deal with in case of mishaps......
Can't realy go wrong with a Honda either......(250 xr es....):2thumbsup

But maybe start a thread in club 250.....? ask who has what to say about which bike?...all the gear in the world on a bike that is no good won't do much for you....

Definately have a chat with Quasievil! His stuff is good, well priced and will not need replacing in a hurry. A good bloke as well.
(No, I'm not getting any sort of commision or backhander for this) There are quite a few folks riding around in his gear, who are very happy.

FXR would be a great commuter but you will soon get a bit tired of it if you wanna go on longer rides - you will get better service from a 250 in that respect

from what I've seen of quasi's gear it seems good and I've heard nothing but great things about their service and support

edit: and welcome to the site btw - make sure you post up some pics when you get your bike :niceone:

Talk to Quasi, he's the man for good priced gear, better to get leather too if you can afford it. If you fall off the bike with the Cordura it's a one fall and new gear time usually, leather gives you better protection if you end up having an off (hopefully that will never happen!).

Motomail in Aucks is good too if you are wanting to wander into a shop, they have an outlet shop www.motomail.co.nz if you want address details etc.... Stuff in the outlet shop you need to go in to try/see as only the main shops stuff is online.

There will be some great advice on what to buy, but the thing i would stress is dont get a cheap helmet. Get the best you can afford, Aria, Shoei or BMW see my avatar i came off at over 80kmh onto the road and owe my life to this helmet (BMW system5). You only have one head!:slap:
