Stay or travel

Do all those in the Nationals from Auckland take three weeks holiday to do the South Island rounds or do you transport the bike(s) down, then travel back and fore?

I'm planning on being there next season and just getting my head around how to do it all here.........

I believe the majority take 2 and a bit weeks of annual leave and stay down here the whole time. It is however possible to say do the ruapuna round, fly back to wgtn/auck on the sunday night and leave your gear at someones house. Then fly back to chch the following thurs night to drive to timaru etc. Can be worked around. Definately not worth driving back home after every weekend though.

I live down here and have taken the whole time off work. Too many things to do in the week between meetings with your bike etc to waste it working :)
