What a cracker day!

We were up and off into town early-ish (by our Saturday standards) so that I could get some new rubber on the Zrex. During last night's ride I saw a line of shiny steel thread appearing down the centre of the rear tyre.

So two new Roadtec Z6s went on this morning.

While we were waiting for the lovely Hazel to do her thing, we two-upped around the waterfront for some brunch at a cafe in Seatoun. Then headed around the peninsula and back into town via the waterfront again. Nice and warm, sunny -- summer appears to have finally arrived.

Reverting to two bikes, we then headed off up the coast and on to Cross Hills nursery and gardens just up the road from Kimbolton (when not biking Mrs H has a green-fingered thing going on). The wind dropped as we headed north and there has been only a light breeze around for most of the day since.

After a leisurely stroll around amongst the sprawling blooming rhododendron and azaleas, we headed off home again, via Colyton and Ashurst. We stopped at the newly-constructed viewing area at the top of the Saddle Hill road and took lots of photos of windmills. The lighting was stunning.

From there we dropped down to Woodville and back to Palmerston North via the Manawatu Gorge for some dinner at Cuba Cafe (damned fine it was too).

From there we had a perfect ride home in the twilight and dark. Nice and warm, well behaved cagers, and no wind. The downside was that we collected every low-flying bug in Christendom. Bikes and apparel now have a nice "fluffy" look about them.

Roll on summer!

Certainly was a good day. Myself and a couple of others scooted around the back roads around Waipuk Dannivirke way. Had a late lunch at Parongahau. We did get quite a bit of rain beleive it or not. You may have noticed the black cloud over the ranges north of Ashurst.

Here's a couple of photos at the windmill lookout on the Saddle Hill road summit. Well done. The Saddle Rd is a nice bit of road for motocycling.

Maybe once it's been resealed. At the moment it's shite. Potholes, proud tar patches and gravel on a lot of the corners. There are some resealed bits on the Woodville side, two of which are in your braking area immediately prior to sharp (35kmh) right-handers. There were also lots of sightseeing cagers gawking at the windmills and straying all over the centre lines. But hey, it was a great day out!!

Sincere apologies to Harold please. I still can't see his neck/head I'm afraid. Any better piccies of him?

That's the things that make it more interesting and really test ones riding skills. <_< still a lot of truck movement during the week so it'll be a while before it's resealed.
