Probably a stupid niave question but here goes. I have several weeks work to do in the Christchurch CBD and I notice some motorcycle parking bays very close to where I will be working. I can't see any time restrictions on the motorcycle signs unlike the car parking right next door. Can I park a motorcycle in the motorcycle parking bay for the entire day without worry of getting a fine?. Do wardens come along and mark your tyres and zap you a ticket for overparking or are motorcycles exempt from time restrictions?.

Good question, don't know. According to the Council website (http://www.ccc.govt.nz/quickanswers/Parking/MobilityParking/F2596.asp)
"Parking on motorcycle stands is free and the time limits vary according to the signs."

I don't recall seeing any time limits on any signs, but then again I've never really looked either.

Yeah. All are free, most you can park as long as you like but some do have time limits.

I know that the ones on Armagh St and also Oxford Tce between Columbo and Manchester are all day. Have parked there numerous times (as do a lot of others) and never had a ticket (nor have I seen a time limit on any MC parks in Chch). :niceone:

The only hassle I ever had was tickets for not displaying a WOF (twice). What I found really annoying was that both times I had one and it was in plain view. Some parking wardens are obviously blind so make sure these can easily be seen.

There actually used to be some individually metered motorbike parks by the library many years ago.

some have an hour limit sign so i assume those that dont are for all day use

someone told me once that outside the library in town there are parking meters for the bike parks. never had a look - any one know if its true or not?
