Went to my cousins yesterday and his mate from Levin was there...
He used to have a very nice 1990 cbr250rrrrrr (not too sure of the amount of "r"s, but there was lots)
when I last saw it, it was for sale.($3800).. so I asked him how much he got for it.
STOLEN..... i'm like WTF????
some scum came around for a testride, borrowed a helmet, and never returned...
the number he called from was a jewellers in levin but the security camera couldnt get a positive ID (makes ya wonder what the point of them is, aye?)
now i felt real sorry for this guy until i asked him abaout his insurance... he cancelled it coz he was selling the bike!!!!...couldnt afford to insure it no more
:bash:
so, If you get offered cheap bits or a cheap cbr, please let me know.... I wanna say hello to this thieving prick.

What colour was it. Will keep an eye out in my travels. Joy riders usually just dump the vehicles they "borrow" when they run out of gas or burnout the tires. Happened to mums cortina station wagon a couple of years back.

Yeah, but this sounds like a nice CBR, I doubt it would just be burnt out.
Should of made him leave his wallet with him.

Don't like to sound like a curmudgeon here, but did he sight the guys license or any other checks on ID etc. The fact he had to borrow a helmet sounds a bit suss as well.
Saying that, I hope they find the bike or the shit that nicked it and deal to him!:kick:

report it to the cops to make it difficult for him to hock it off but dont realistically expect to see it again, this is what the fuzz told me, how helpful they can be.

It was white and(cant remember, will ask)
It was it mint condition
He didnt look at the guys licence...( a lot of people dont when ya buy a 250, coz alot dont have them)
The cops looked at the security tape... (why bother having a camera if it wont identify anyone)
The guy is in his late 30's- early 40's, dark, greying hair...

If they dont have a license, what are they doing taking it on the road for a test drive. Also, if the guy is late 30's...you would expect him to have a license.

Yeah.... when I got my Zeal (found on T&E website) I didnt have my NZ bike license.
but if ya gunna fork out to get back into bikes, a test ride wouldnt go astray! and most people dont mind... I left the mrs, baby and car as collateral...(lookin back, I shoulda done a runna)
mind you, when I bought the Duc they asked me if I wanted to test ride it... I said "I'll ride it when I take it home!"

In my line of business test drives are part of the deal. Sussing out the customer Is darned important . I keep the car keys of their drive car--If they donn't have any then I'd be dead set susspicious

I'd be keeping thier keys, or thier license number and at least another form of ID to make sure they hadnt faked a card. If they dont turn up on, or in a decent vehicle, then I'd be suspicious as a suspicious thing.
That said, I'm all for beating the %&* out of thieving mongrels like this. They are obviously too thick to learn to respect others property when told to do so, therefore, we must use "alternative educational methods" -- ie those things hanging off your wrists, and a good solid pair of steelies :kick:
