Ah, bollocks! The RG's been off the road for ages while I sorted the brakes, tyres etc. Had a bit of an issue with parts but that's all sorted.

Took the bike for a quick spin up the road tonight and was mortified when the forks 'bottomed out' under braking with a resounding 'clunk'.

When the fork seals were replaced, each leg was refilled with 285ml of Spectro SAE 10 and I thought that was that. Standard weight oil quoted for this bike is SAE 5 so the new stuff should have been an improvement.

Any suggestions?

Springs may be a bit soft for your weight

How much do you weigh mate? This would make a big difference.

Did you assemble the forks yourself? It sounds like they may not be quite right.

Perhaps the bottoming cones have been incorrectly positioned? These are damper rod forks so relatively simple but the antidive being the only complexity.
