Heres the deal. I live down the end of a quiet cul de sac.
Its a pretty family orientated street with kids buzzing around on pushbikes and skateboards and stuff.
Just recently some "lads" have taken it into their head that the end of our stret will make a great burnout/donut pad.
They come down the street at what seems high speed (hard to tell as the engines are always roaring through the drainpipe exhausts).
Ripping on the handbrake they either try a handbrake u turn or start a donut then burnout up the street.
Ripping on the handbrake they either try a handbrake u turn or start a donut then burnout up the street.
Its pretty scarey stuff for the kids. The " have already destroyed one kerb section and someones fence.
One resident had finally had a gutsfull.
It happened to be inorganic collection time and one of these "lads" comes roaring down in his 84 familia with its lowered suspension and drainpipe exhaust. The "lad" ripps on the brake and starts his turn. Only to find a young childs bicycle burried through what was once his passenger window.
He quickly races up to the cop shop to apear a few minutes later in back of a patrol car complaining he had done nothing wrong.
Said resident now has to pay for a new side window for said mazda.

Let them go down the street then chuck a handful of Z nails on the street for when they come back up. Hard to do burnouts with 4 flat tyres.
Seriously.

funny enough I was over at a mates place last night (same deal, quiet cul-de-sac with lots of kids playing close to the road), some twat in a starlet came down, stopping in the middle of the road and bouncing off the rev limiter doing a burnout up the road.
10 mins later they come flying down the road at ~100km/h and one of the people living at the end of the road came out and threw a push bike (hard enough for the bike to actually brake in half!) at the starlet causing a bit of damage I'd say. So we started cheering for the guy that threw the bike.
Unfortunatly the cops came down about 10-20mins later and had a chat to the guy...looked like the twats in the starlet called the cops (some fucking nerve if you ask me).
Guy's probably going to get charged over it (guessing) but I bet thats the last time those guys come back!!!!
EDIT: I see you are in massey...is this the same thing? last night around 7-8pm? (was on the bourbons...wasn't paying attention to the time)

heres what happened when my kids were young, we had the same situation and the next time they came back the big maori guy from down the road (who worked for road construction co) was digging in the garden, he walked over to the drivers door and had a word and got a mouthfull of cheek etc, so he walked to the front of the car and smashed in the headlights with his shovel. we never saw them again and I wonder how the little smart ass explained the damage to everyone.

You guys need to all stick up for your neighbour![Wasn't him officer!]
Then have a neighbourhood working bee and built a concrete speed bump.[A proper one] Don't wait for the council to do it! And paint it yellow. No-one will complain cos they'll all think its cocha!

Can you video them at it? Cops love that sort of evidence.

Back at the family home up north, we lived out rural with a big roundabout just under a km down the road. used to be the burnout spot for the local kids, but the people in all the new subdivisions etc took exception to this.
So they got a few camcorders, cameras etc, and waited for them.
Come monday morning, the cops had a nice ream of photographic and video evidence presented. List of offences for each vehicle, photographs of driver and passengers, video proof for most of it.
What came of it? a slap on the wrist at most, as they still came back normally at least once a fortnight.
I'm not sure exactly what happened in the end, but i went through there one monday on the way to work and there was an awful lot of broken glass all over the sides of the roundabout. They weren't back for about a year after that, but they eventually came back every now and then.

LOL. Had the same deal down our cul de sac 18months ago with my neighbor and mate hooning while my kids were practicing on their pushbikes on the footpath. I managed to drag one out of the car and did my very best to provoke them into escalating the situation physically. To their credit they didn't cos 2 fit young fullas might have been more than I could chew. Ended with me making multiple threats and going back inside shaking. Spoke to my wife about the deal, thought about the shit that I had got up to as a young fullah, calmed down and went back accross the road with my tail between my legs to apologise for my unacceptable behaviour. Ended up talking with them, explained my issue as a parent and they have been the picture of politeness since. Wish I'd done that before losing my cool.
As attractive as the vigilante thing can be, often both sides lose out.
2 cents.

Nah that was my mate who owns the place I was at.
Did the cops do anything in the end about it?? If so I've got 4 witnesses that the guy deserved what he got.

get a good sized hunk of carpet, bang about 500 gib nails thru it, tie a black rope on one end, and put it in the driveway across the street. when you hear the buggers coming, wait in hiding until the last minute then yank it out onto the road in front of them,(let go of the rope straight away or youll get a good burn) presto flat tyres, by the time they have stopped to see what the fuck happened, you have the spike strip rolled up and hidden in the garage..... no evidence, give it a try.
or get a large car with a big trailer/boat/caravan and block him in then call cops.

Yea the cops decided NOt to prosecute the bike chucker. They did though order him to pay for the damaged window.
We at that point all "suggested" that the "lad" concerned should be ordered to repair the damage he did to the road.

My gradparents, shit this is weird using them as an example of using technology?!, live in a little wee old peoples culdersac/ private driveway kinda of thing and they have rigged a camera up above their sign....... not a real camera but it has a flashing red LED and looks real enough to me even..... and since then their troubles have reduced.

Nail gun perchance? Also, nail plates/knuckle plates are a good one...
Saw someone once stop a boy racer doing stoopid stunts... Reached into car and snapped key off in ignition switch, left daft b*gger with imobilised car in an industrial estate, at night and no power. Made me laugh.

New neighbour has turned double garage into a pad for her Son. Son's friends were speeding around the block, drifting around the roundabout.
Went outside, stood in road, put my hand up and simply told them that this was not a race track and one more time I was calling the cops...no more trubs

There's the problem right there.... Why wasn't she telling them this? Why do parents bring their kids up thinking that behavior is ok?

Bugger will get the new trainees running up and down your road at 0500 chanting then..........

I'd agree with videotaping/photographing the lot. If you sort all the neighbours out to do the same thing, you'll have ample evidence.
Or see you can get a community constable to come and sit in the street on a Friday/Saturday/whatever to prevent the damage.
If you involve the cops enough, eventually they will do something to get you to shut up.
If you do any damage (including nails in the street), I think you'd be liable for criminal damage charges. Even if there was no evidence for the cops, I think your street/house would become a target for the little fucktards every time you went out.
