Are you going through Te Kuiti or down SH4 and then across to Highway 30 via the Kopaki saddle? (Getting keener by the minute here...)

mangell6
15th November 2004, 18:17
Intention is gas up at Te Kuiti and then go down SH30, but we could double back down SH4 go over the Kopaki saddle to SH30 . . . . .

I was tempted to automatically include you . . . . .

We'll be in Chch at the first round of the Nationals. I don't like night riding so I wouldn't do it anyway, but I would have come to farewell you if I was in town.

Happy planning! (I suspect you'll get a few others along too.....)

I could also offer free bed and breakfast for up to 4 or so of the group, if anyone decides, (upon arriving in NP) maybe the whole ride at night might be a bit much. (ie. raining, cold, tiredness, Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha broken down etc.)

Funny you should mention that, cos I did come up with a little ditti yesterday that goes a little like this:

:spudguita :spudguita

Does your Honda give you Hemroides?

Come and stay with me.

Your Suzuki acting spooky?

Come and stay with me.

Is your Yamaha a Yawn?

Come and stay with me.

Your Ducati thrown a Paddy?

Come and stay with me.

(Here's the chorus)

Kaaaa-wasaki's they'll be flyyyy-ing. The Onnnnn-ly ones to meet the Dawww-n!
Plooo-ow through any type of weaaa-ther. Makes all other rider look forlorn!

Now everybody from the top!
It fits any song music,,
if your in the right frame of mind.

Not sure how this thread got from a short night’s ride to Arabs & Camels :spudwhat: , Regretfully I’m going to have to pass. It doesn’t work in very well with the ones maintenance schedule & how that’s going to fit around some upcoming long rides.

Have an excellent ride.

Yup it's still on Racey.

So far 3 are confirmed (Me, mangell6 and Hitcher) plus a non-KB maybe.

Your offer of a bbq waiting for us is very generous but not neccesary. We would however love to meet you (and any one else from the Naki) somewhere for a chat while we gas up and stretch our nether regions.

The 2 main reasons for this trip were
a) to get me closer to 12,000k's so that I can do my 12k service before the Big50 trip at New Years and
b) to test just how far my bike will go with its and new and improved fuel chip. Previously 195k was the limit which for a 19L tank is piss poor. I'm hoping for 220 which is still crap but better than 190 eh !

Without looking to hard at the distances I'd say we'll be at NP around 11:30 which would be an ideal time for a snack and stretch.

Checked the forecasts and it looks fairly good. Should be dry pretty much all the way with showers not expected 'till later Saturday. Could be a bit windy in places.
If I can wriggle out of another engagement I will meet you @ Mana and ride up to Kapiti with you.
Otherwise, have a good ride

I'm knackered !!!

I've got friends arriving at 3:30pm for a visit and I can hardly keep my eyelids open.

mangell6 should have some photo's to upload tonight. I want to see them ALL #18 in particular (mangell6 and Hitcher taking a wizz on some poor unsuspecting tree, who would of thought I could operate a digital camera with my gloves on ;))

It was a good ride, Honda's certainly got a bashing after problems with Steve's bike. Although minor issues the push start at every stop gave rise to a few more digs at such a reliable brand.

Good to meet you RR. It's nice to put a face (and a real name) to some of the characters here.
