Hey.

I have an 87 fzr400 no exup(1WG) that i picked up cheap,

Have taken fairing off.

I want to put on some after market lights (like acerbis cyclops(i like the look)) maybe paint job exhaust etc. Mechanically bike is in good nick and had all fliud etc replaced and well maintained about 60kms.

Also would like to know if its a good idea and how to get lower revs at 100 km/h 7000 feels too high

Just wanted some ideas, advice and what are some good shops/wreckers for parts???

Budget up to 2K

I used to own a 1987 FZR400, and consider it one of the best bikes I've ever had, and certainly the most fun. It has done 37000 km when I bought it, and over 100 000km by the time I got rid of it. Well done on having a fantastic bike :-)

However I'm pretty sure mine was at just a bit over 6000rpm at 100km/h. Maybe 6500rpm at the most. certainly not 7000rpm.
I can only assume that either one of our tachometers has told us porkies, or you have the wrong tyre profile or sprocket(s) on the bike. What tyre profile do you have at the moment?

If your sprockets and tyres are right then I wouldn't recommend playing around with it without good reason. It's got quite a short first gear as it is and I don't think you'd want to make it any shorter. Keep in mind that it is redlined at 14000rpm, so even six to seven thousand rpm isn't going to hurt the engine too much. After all, look how long mine lasted, and that was without any engine problems whatsoever!

Modifying the front fairing area could be a shit loada trouble for you at this stage--but then hey ya might be a fully qualified engineer and brackets etc are a doddle for ya.
