its at a carpark this week and i guarantee you always learn something. worth the effort and petrol just for the good times, generally followed by a beer at the pub.

come along, macstar came once with kim and had a ball. lol.

i wanna see all you people there as well.

meeting 645 at shell westgate, at the end of the north western motorway then turn LEFT and its the shell 500m down the road.

hope to see all and or some of you there.

it's a what hand turn? and which carpark is this?

security guards at westgate don't appreciate me using my pocket rocket at 1am and DO wait 30minutes before launching an ambush/chase with big sticks (and that thing is the WORST getaway vehicle ever), so i doubt they'd allow multiple riders without some sort of prior arrangement

i asked the guards about it later and apparently they can't let anyone muck around there, for reasons only westgate management knows

(oddly enough, the police don't seem to mind a lone person walking down the road with a full face helmet on his head and a bike under his arm)

LMAO... nah end of the north western and then turn right. follow that road in a straight line till u hit shell on your left and they all meet there. u coming along man? its a good time?

I can vouch for this and the stuff you learn there is pretty much invaulable.

The last I was there it was with Issac and Kim, and we all had a sweet time doing salem and emergency braking.

If possible this should be made a weekly thing for some of the riders here and I too gonna look into going to a few more.

There's also this Monday Night thing held at Pamure for those who live out East like me.

Timaa
30th January 2008, 17:43
either way its definately a good time and everyone should always be open to learning new things. doesnt matter how long you have ridden for, you cant know it all. lol.

motorbyclist
30th January 2008, 18:11

I believe the term is lost your marbles... But yes, if you turned right at the end of the North/Western motorway you'd be driving a long way i.e. Albany before you found a Shell Station on the left-hand side of the road!

Anyway, work sucks - BRING BACK THE CRUISY UNI DAYS!

31st January 2008, 16:16
It is a left turn, and you folks obviously turned right as you weren't there!

Had about 8 bikes doing emergency braking & slow speed stuff. The learners had a great time & their confidence levels were boosted heaps. The rides are run every week, so don't be a waafs blouse, get there & have a good time.:niceone:

I wish I could but am busy Wed nights from this week on :(. Maybe I'll be able to in winter, would be great for some controlled practise. I'm thinking of heading to car parks by myself when I have time to just practise a few things by myself anyway :)

Somd feedback for you.

I suggested to a non-KBer at work to go along and she did on Wed night. I caught up with her today she was raving about how friendly and good you'all were on Wednesday night.

She said she learnt a lot and was really impressed with the approach and atmosphere.

Well done you lot.

Macstar

I'm going to come too next week or the week after. I want to practice my emergency stopping again on the new Hornet (I did this last year on the AWNMR at 50kph and 100kph).

Even though I've had the bike for a month now I haven't got use to the more powerful brakes yet and have locked up the rear a couple of time whilst commuting when f&**ers have pulled out in front of me.

On my last bike I could confidently get maximum stopping without skidding the front or back wheel, or lifting up the rear wheel i.e. stoppie style.

Anyway, I'm going on about it cause I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PPL COME TO ALSO PRACTICE THEIR EMERGENCY BRAKING, REGARDLESS OF YOUR EXPERIENCE LEVEL AND DRIVER'S LICENSE TYPE.

shingo
27th February 2008, 20:50
Yep, we rode out to the placemakers in albany. Did some emergancy braking and target fixation drills.

It is definately worth going, i am now a little more confident on stopping quickly (will be doing some more practice) and my sharp cornering has improved.

27th February 2008, 21:03

anyone going tonight?

motorbyclist
6th March 2008, 00:06
well macstar and myself both attended today

was well worth it; a fun ride at the start and a safe place to practice with some very good advice.

something alot more of our club members should be doing - especially the learners, but it's still good for experienced riders to break bad habits by practising proper technique

i took my camera hoping to get a few pics to give you guys an idea, but what photos i had weren't any good... next time i'll take the photos myself i think
