The 1098R has now been released.
180 bhp, 140 ft/lbs, traction control and lighter than the 1098S
But - probably rather expensive.....oh well...

the 848 is just as sexy too.. I'd sell my 1st born to have one. Don't want kids anyway, so it'd be easy for me

They should call it the 1198 lol, seeing as it's now a 1200. Looks like a very very impressive bit of kit, but it should be at $60,000. To be honest it does look like a lot of bike for the money, traction control, titanium this and that, top-shelf ohlins bits.

I must admit, since purchasing my Monster 620 I am very bias and drawn toward the Ducati brand and this 1098R only emphasises my opinion but who could not like that bike? It's unbelievably arounsing!

The 1098R is a lovely piece of motorcycle, but I think the 848 would be a better bet for a road bike.
And it should be called the 1198R as it's certainly a different model to the road going 1098.

One of the local guys has a 1098 Tricolore, which he has spent "rather too much on". - every Ducati extra he could get and Carbon fibre everything. It is drop dead exquisite - mind you, for the $52,000 he's spent on it, it should be.

Ducati aren't known for stating inflated figures... but even still 180hp at the crank from a 1200cc V-twin is pretty mint next to an IL4 with the same crank HP and less torque!

pffft people spend WAY more on shitty art crap.
Picasso , Monet , Van Gogh et al
I think 24 squid for a piece by Giandrea Fabbro is well worth it.
It would look just lovely sitting on a pedestal in the lounge.

Guess there won't be many 4 cylinder bikes winning anything in the World Ducati Bikes competition.

There is generally little difference between the torque outputs of bikes with the same displacement, in fact some IL4's have an edge over the V2 counterpart. The difference lies in how and where the torque is produced.

Stunning.... are Ducati releasing an 848R any time soon? Probably be a better choice for most NZ roads - and cheaper...
