View Full Version : Well done Red Baron

Thanks to the Red Baron I have found my New Bike. I trotted in a week or two ago and Nick showed me every bike under 650cc. Patiently letting me sit on all of them and talk about what I used to like, currently like, used to ride, would like to ride and am able to ride. A little green Honda250 Jade caught my attention but my confidence in myself didn't let me buy her.
Last Saturday I went back and Big Dog showed me nearly all of the bikes again, sitting on them and pondering. I found my attention kept going back to the Jade and eventually decided that I could no longer spend my days looking at bikes I either had to buy one or go home and spend my days watching Coro St. :pinch:
Big Dog then showed me upstairs to try on gear. Each style, Each size giving detailed explanations of qualities. Must have been a total of two hours and he hadn,t had a caffiene or nicotine top up once.
Back again today to get leggings and pay for bike. Phil showed me styles, sizes, with and without linning. Pack, lock and alarm.
It was finnaly dropped off at 2pm by Jamie who happily gave a full explanation of all the knobs and bells, right down to the dip stick.
All in all a smooth service that has landed me with the right bike for my size and ability.
I went round all my local streets, started off doing the block with left hand corners, and progressed to righ handers and traffic lights. Then off to South Auckland to do my work rout. I thought I would have to take it a bit slow in Hugh Watt Drive, maybe take it at 70km. Jade didn't like that idea and soon took over and happily settled at 100km:2thumbsup
Managed to clock up around 70k and looking forward to Wenesday night rides to help with the confidence.
Thank you every one that helped me get back on the road

Yep going round and round the block doing all those lefthanders was great fun... and there are some nice back roads in your area.

hey well done. I am Welly girl but dropped into Red Baron when up in Auckland last. I was really impressed by them - and even more impressed that I could find winter gloves in ladies extra small! I had given up on finding anything that didn't feel like wearing sausages on my fingers and was impressed by the range of girl gear.
Good luck out there and be safe.

I think you live in the same alternate universe as me. I have no complaints about RB unlike so many on KB.
Enjoy the new bike

Hehe, yep, I think that's the first positive thing I've ever seen about Red Baron on Kiwibiker.

Easiest way is; When replying or posting, click on the paperclip icon above the text window.
Then find the file using the browse button, click upload and close the window when done.

Na, ya simply catn't get it out. Apparently it affects your red cell count if you try and extract it. It's best just to go with the flow:yes:

Ha good on you. The 'Jade' is a neat wee bike. I'm getting quite used to seeing the back of Mrs Oakie's Jade pulling away from me at Give Ways and Stops. I've even ridden it a few times myself and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It has done one longish trip and both rider and bike were very happy at the end.
Anyway, enjoy your Jade and biking in general and I'm sure Mrs Oakie will be in touch sometime to compare notes.

And on the note of Red Baron...IF you in Welly. TSS in Avalon are also into the red baron thingamebob. So if you looking for a bike, esp 250s go check out their selection. If I recall correctly they had a Jade, hyosungs, CBR, FZR, ZZR and some others that I personally wasn't interested in.
The range of affordable 250's was the best I've seen down here in a long time.
Took me back....RIPCBR250rr
