Because nobody would buy them.

It's too impractical as a road bike and too slow as a race bike.

maybe Yamaha should have built this

You talking about Harley's in general?

Can we count the drag strip?

'nobody' was unfortunate choice of words - should say it wouldn't sell very well.

H-D are making a flat tracker - but it's not available in some markets.

Dave, Dave, you never fail to take the bait

You talking about the XR1200? After watching Motu's video (and then doing some more research on it, interesting bike that), it seems to be more of a naked sportsbike than a street flat-tracker. Seems like mostly a styling exercise. Still an unusual bike for them to offer, though.

Chances of XR1200 selling well?

Well they are going to give it try with the XR1200,finally acknowledging the XR750.

re the original post - small tank, no passenger, no creature comforts, no electric start, rigid mount unbalanced engine.

I'd have one but the HTFUers would have kittens - oooh it makes my leg hottttt' 'ooh it shakes'

and then for flogging on a track it's got 90 horsepower.

Lovely thing - I can see them streaming out of the showrooms.

no creature comforts

I reckon, it ain't even got handle grips or levers! I mean there is minimalist styling, but that is just OTT.

OK - it hasn't got the styling - but a Buell Lightning super TT shares some of the characteristics.

Single seat, sports oriented, American V-twin. One Terrific urban motorcycle.

I've seen the demo unit and nil others.

Not to mention the lack of a chain, belt, drive shaft or differential. Brmmm Brmmm.

No foot pegs either, I bet they'll fit some forward controls on it.

I loved the shape and style of the old XRs....would be great to see HD put out a new XR range....

The Trumpy Scrambler is a good comeback too...

You forgot to add that that bike shown is damn ugly

I have to second that - I guess beauty is in the eye on the beholder - but the lines just don't work for me.

I think theres a Buell X1 down this way that is similar tot eh top pic (shock mounted under the frame), it was the headers running down the side of the bike with the wrapping all over it. Beautiful looking bike.

I'm loving the street-tracker style bikes eh. I would love to build one some day, but wonder what they would be like to ride.
