Hey

I've done my basic handling and am planning to do get my learners next week. I'm hoping to buy a bike not long after and maybe thought I could get some advice :)

I think I'll be a bit of a slow learner :baby: so I'll need something thats relatively easy to ride.... I've been looking at Volty's and GN's but so many people seem to have GNs and I kinda want something a bit different but also to not spend much money...

I'm also quite short, 5'2" and light so I'll need something I can hold up haha.

Anyway, any advice whatsoever would be appreciated!!! Thanks ;)

Get a Volty! I have sent you a pm to brainwash you into getting one. :2thumbsup

I agree that GNs are common as muck :Pokey: and the Volty is much more styley.

The volty on trademe we're looking at looks pretty nice Soph... It'll be interesting to see what kinda price the reserve is at. Due to the low k's it might be pretty high :bash:

I can tell you that it's even more interesting trying to ride one when your 6'4", and your knees could touch the ground on both sides of the bike at the same time...

Can I put a plug in for an FXR150. They are a super bike, very easy to ride and have great stuff like a fuel gauge and and indicator letting you know what gear you are in.

They are nimble, agile, and while not speedy (I max mine out at 132) it can keep up with the traffic on the daily commute, can handle long trips (I did 1000km in a day and it handled it better than some of the big bikes) and at 127kg dry weight one of the lightest bikes you can get.

Price wise they tend to be around the $2500 mark but hold their value well. Good on the maintenence front - just takes one litre of oil, 91 gas and my new rear tire cost $117.

There arent that many around and they have a really nice look to them.

Dunno how much of an issue money is, but Honda VTR250's are awesome bikes and suited to shorter riders. At least have a go on one and see...

Bump for the FXR150!

I'm really short myself and bought one to learn on. Really easy to handle and cheap to run. The gear indicator and fuel gauge are also handy for a learner. Bit underpowered if you do a lot of motorway driving. Mine recently got stolen and now I'm upgrading.

Kawasaki EL. Cruiser styling, light, low seat height, almost bullet proof engine. Great little bike, if you can find one.

Ewwwwww.... 250cc Cruisers... :chase:

What you want is a VOLTY!!!! PM Triboy.. His partner has one and she loves it. Way nicer looking then a GN or anything else.

My 1c worth...

Cheeerio :2thumbsup

.... A really short thief who cant ride very well??? That or a very drunk thief who cant ride very well... Or prehaps someone with very bad judgement.... :stupid:

FXR's have there place but I still beleive a volty would be a better/safer bet. Like I say thats just my opinion...

Goood luck finding a bike! Youre guna love it out there!

But that's because you're young skid. If you don't like something then others aren't allowed to either?? Imagine a world of Skidmark clones. I thought you packed a sad and were never posting on KB again??? Can't keep your word or just seeking attention?

Yamaha Scorpio , 4k will get you a new one on the road. Fairly low seat height, only 137kg. Its not a speed machine but very predictable and easy to handle. That just my opinion.Look around and find one that suits you.

I guess they just take whats easiest rather than what they think is best. I'm just glad I had insurance and now I'm getting a ZXR250 on thursday.
