Have recently bought a 1991 Yamaha xj 400 Diversion, she is immaculate 4 its age, rides xtremely well ( well I think so ) , has anyone got a similar bike to mine and if so what r your thoughts about the bike. Want to keep her for a couple of years before I graduate to a Yamaha R6. Cheers for any comments guys and gals:rockon:

Had a 600 diversion in the UK for just under 3 years. Bombproof and they sip gogo juice. NOTHING does wrong with them...believe me...I gave mine 3 years of daily commuting abuse and only 2 oil changes. The finish is better on them than a lot of the more expensive Yamaha models.
Oh..the exhaust balance pipe rotted on mine but it'd be used on salty UK roads so I doubt it would be an issue here. Didn't really affect the power much either.
Get BT45's on there as I tried a few and they were far and away the best rubber. You'll find cheap crash bars on Ebay that wrap around the engine....they don't really spoil the bikes looks and make the riding position more comfortable. Engine bottom end is same as an FZR and a lot of bits are interchangeable. Fit braided hoses if yours is the single disk model. Recommend heavier front fork oil too.
They even handle not too badly.

The only thing wrong with my yammy diversion was front fork leaked, had new seals replaced, apart from that she rides real strong, does about 220ks on tank of gas before I switch to reserve. Take it to work nearly every day, the wet riding is a real challenge, especially the white lines on the road!
Cheers Iggy
