Traveled down to my niece and her husband's (he rides a KLX300 in local events) farm in Makuri, 25k east of Pahiatua, Saturday 26th Jan and immediately went for a ride with Grace. We discovered very quickly just how big and steep the property is, 2200 acres and awesome views, once we got to the top of some very steep climbs. Grace and the little Honda were near unstoppable going up, but she wasn't too keen about getting back down...
Sunday saw us at Woodville for the NZGP. Really enjoyed the racing, took a couple of locals who were also suitably impressed. Didn't take many pics as the way they had laid out the the track and spectator areas presented very cluttered backgrounds and it was hard to get close to the track to use a short lens..... River race was a hoot... The speed shown by the top racers, on what looked like a very technical track, was awesome.. :gob:
Spent the next few days exploring the farm (and another up the road with lime stone caves..) about 70 k per day. Got top dressed by a very low flying Fletcher with a very good aim :dodge:
Grace has stepped up to the next level and is now quite a competent trail rider  Sophie has learnt to ride and is comfortable with brakes and gears on the flat and my wife had a long session on the 100 as well, She used to ride a bit when she worked on dairy farms, but this was her first ride in over twenty years, she seemed to enjoy it.. :2thumbsup
A cracker holiday that we will repeat next year......
