When you learn to drive here, are you taught to check your mirror before changing your position on the road?

Reason I ask.. I nearly got squashed by some tattooed fuckwit in a van just now. I asked him if he'd checked his mirror before swerving to knock me off. Apparently not, and that's the sort of thing I should be doing for him (or words to that effect)

Everyone, know matter what vehicle they may be in or on, should check their mirrors or at least look over their shoulder, before changing lanes or pulling out, to make sure that the way is clear for them to move over or out.

I do believe that it is stated somewhere in the road code as well.

Depends who teaches you....

Turning your head works too

They teach people to drive here? I thought you just handed over the money and got a license?

They don't teach you anything here...you don't ever 'learn to drive' in NZ!:crybaby:so that'll be part of the problem
