why would anyone pay $6500 for a second hand one when a new one is $7000?

Maybe he should give her an ultimatum..... Its me and my bike or nothing. Anyway if he kept her in the kitchen where she shoud be, she would have never found out about it!

"Kim, KIM! What the fuck is that in the garage??
Get rid of it now, or I'll move back to Mums" (seizing the opportunity, he grabs the cellphone off the table, dials..."Yeah, I'll take the new ZX10R. In fact I'll have 2, one green and another black pleeease...")

Know what though??...that same scenario (except for the 2 x ZX10 of course :o) worked for me with an ex. The moron turned to me once and said (and I kid you not!):
"no, you can't have a bike!" :oi-grr:
My response was obviously along the lines of a mild mannered, obedient F*CK OFF!!! once i'd realised he was serious...

Yup.
As a wise man once told me, when it comes down to the bike versus the woman (or the man), pick the bike every time and you'll never live to regret it...

Amen... worked for me!
Never, ever should anyone have to give up a passion for a person. But why is it that it always seem to be a woman who gets the man to give something?

I tried choosing the woman once.
It was the wrong call.
Then I chose the bike, and it was the right call.
Obviously no rule is perfect, but given the importance of motorcycling to many folk here, and the general nature of a relationship where a partner would try to block something like that, it's not a bad principle to follow.

Ya but then ya get some spoil buggers like this lady's oldman:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=138201459
I e-mailed her and got this reply:
Hi There,
I brought My Better half a 1992 Kawasaki ZZR1100....8years ago for His 40th Birthday and that was and still is a great Quick bike,But as better half has been riding Kawasaki's and Ducati's all His life ,His neck and wrists give him a hard time, and He ride's hard, So I thought that it was time to upgrade to look after his neck etc.
Well hell
So we went up to Nelson to look at and test ride the Concours, But when we got up there they wouldn't let us ride it as it wasn't a demo bike and didn't have One.
No one had a demo bike, and if you wanted one you had to order one .Unbelivable.
So was told that I would have to wait 6 weeks for a Concours in get in the Country.
Well I was NOT happy about that at all and packed a sad.
Went to My Local Kawasaki Dealer who dont sell road bikes...... Told Him My story and he got on the Phone and I had One in the Box 4 days Later. Yahoo
But now you already know that he is not happy with this bike.
Bike is Not to fault and he couldn't fault it.....
For a Tourer it is everything that they say about it and more.....Just My Man Not ready to go tour he needs a Sports bike to play on and the Concours is for Touring and doing Long Miles.
So what I should of brought, But couldn't get One at the time, was a Kawasaki ZZR 1200.
There were afew around but real Dogs, Then 2 weeks ago I found a 2005 ZZR 1200 in P North with only 10,000kms One owner NZ New LOL for $12,500 What a bargin.
If you get to have a ride on a Concours you would not give it back.
Now I know that in about 5yrs My other half is going to be pissed off he didnt keep it.
We have a 1976 900ss have had for about 25 years in the Lounge.
And a 1980 Kawasaki Z1R that I got off TM and we have had 5 of these Old Bikes.
Still got the ZZR 1100
And I'm Not keeping the Concours. LOL
I hope you find a Great bike for you and your Better Half.
There nothing better than clocking up some mile on bikes.
Kaye
Play safe
Should have e-mailed her back and told her ta ditch the Old Bugger for me. I would have loved her long time if she had got me that.

My fiancee told me if I bought my GSXR1000, she'd leave me.
Gee, I miss her. :2guns:
And her retarded friends ("bikes are dangerous, you'll end up in a wheelchair"). I'm no good at wheelchairs, getting my feet above the bars is trickier than it looks.

I remember when I used to have my GSX my girl friend at time was only mad because she didn’t have her licence to ride one as well.
A girl (or man) not wanting you to have the bike isn’t the worse case scenario, you can always find away around it. Its when your mother or father don’t want you to have one. Its easy to say the bike over one who is not your own blood, but when its your own family not so easy to ditch them, its why I am own legs and feet for the time being, but hopefully will get back into riding when I get the money together again.

Its when your mother or father don’t want you to have one. That partly why I started later in life riding. By the time ya 30, ya fix that problem. Ya just get the bike and go riding and they just have ta get used ta the idea. Bit like bring a girl back ta sleep over night for the first time when ya have V.old fashion parents (but that's another story:rolleyes:).

You should meet my brother in law (or close enough to be referred to as, I guess), he broke both his legs in a biking accident a number of years back, mangling one so badly he had to have a muscle in his chest removed to replace one in his left leg and spent a long, long time in a wheelchair recovering... and then even longer when my sister tripped him up by accident before it was fully healed and broke his left leg again!
He can do wheelies in wheelchairs these days, and CAN get his feet above the bars with a little effort...
Poor bloke loves it when I get home, he takes my Ninja out for "test" runs each time... He needs another bike but my sister won't let him. And it's back to the point of the post, haha...

My partner made me get rid of my then most prized posession. It was a 1972 VH Valiant Pacer with the 4 spd box. Very few of them around and would be worth a fair few pennies now. I still think about that car EVERY day.
Since I got rid of it, I have persued other hobbies. 1st it was blokarting, then it was Kitesurfing, now its bikes. Every time I decide to persue one of these hobbies, I just go out and buy the stuff. I get a typical responce from the ol' girl to which I reply a single word... "Valiant". She then doesnt talk to me for a while (weeks). So its a win win for me :first: :first:

You usualy like to upgrade your bike at some stage.....
Easier and cheaper then upgrading your wife....
However is a partner that dictates what you can and can't do worth keeping?.......:msn-wink:

To get a new Triumph some years ago, I came home from afternoon shift and hopped in bed (about 1:00am). Patted the Wife on the bum and said, "How'd you like to go for a ride on a motorbike?"
Wife said, "We don't have a bike".
"We could buy one", I casually mentioned.
"Oh", says wife.
For the next week I left pamphlets and magazines lying around the house showing the Triumph Thunderbird Sport, and Wife says, "Is this what you want to buy then?"
Done deal. Went to the bike shop and got my brand new yellow Triumph.
Strangely this time when I wanted a bike, I had to go through all sorts of hoops to get it. Maybe this only works once in a bloke's life.
