Hmm *scratches head*

For those of you who dont know, I sold Storm (K3 gsxr 600) back in September last year and gave up road riding completely. Im surprised I still get asked "where's your bike?" or "why are you not riding?"

Well here is why....

After having some deep meaningful discussions back then with a couple of good mates and other kbers the decision and conclusions made, was that my style of riding was not suited for the road anymore. It was a 3 month decision as biking has always been a major part of my life. (for those of you who know the rest, please dont discuss it on here, just pm me or hit me up in person)

I had not touched a bike since Sept until 3 weeks ago. I took a zzr250 out for a short ride and a Marauder 250 "Rawberry" out for a couple of rides last week. Even after riding with a group of kbers for the day, they all enjoyed themselfs greately, which is what it's about, but I felt nothing. There are no road riding urges at all anymore and sad to say that the ride did nothing for me. There was nothing wrong, sunny day, good company unexpected minor bin but you get that with the inexperienced at times.

I couldnt have asked for a more better day from everyone and the weather but inside me I felt empty and they saw that...(sorry guys)

And yes my style of riding was scaring other motorists on the road, I will admitt this is my fault as Im the one in control of my bike. So I've done the right thing (I think) giving it up and staying off the roads for a while.

So Im moving on.....

I'll still be around, catching rides on the back of bikes for ATNR and other such events from time to time. Just not riding alongside on the road for a while yet...deep down I know I will return, just dont know when Im in no hurry, got all the time in the world.

I have a thirst for speed like I never had before, an intense passion for leaning a bike over as far as possible dancing on the throttle like a ballerina, smooth transitions for twistie after twistie and wanting that speed fix down the back straight.

So I have decided to get into bucket racing. In the process of purchasing an 02 FXR 150 and already had 2 sponsors offering their services. Im not going to take them up just yet until I get into F3 which would be the next step.

Just taking a break from road riding to see how track racing goes.

Best of luck :first:, never met you but hope you have a great time going after what you want and if you decide to return to road riding, will hope to catch you on a ride. Would say ride safe but guess it's race safe now :headbang:.

Given the background K'hawk, I'd say that track riding is the perfect choice and I'm so impressed that you've got to that in such a mature way.

Good luck, I hope we see you on the VMCC Winter Series

I've never met you and can't comment on your riding - but from what you're saying it certainly seems that you're making the right choice.

After all - the track is where the real action is (or at least should be)! ;)

Best of luck with it - just don't hurt too many fragile male egos out there... Chances are they'll take that with them back to the public road.

Question - is your riding stlye very smooth or more aggressive?
Don't know you or about you but it sounds to me from the comments that you are a wee bit fast and aggressive.
If you are more aggressive have you considered Motard class instead of F3? Try it, you will love it I am guessing. If you think that Road Racing is sort of like boxing (Fast, technical and dangerous) then Motards is kind of like cage fighting.
Good luck on the track!!!

OK MDU-----DONT DO IT--:finger:
Personally Kitty I'd suggest ya get a trail bike. Why? because yea bucket racing is seriously good fun -youll learn lines, racecraft, riding in a close group of bikes and get crashing as nothing to think about etc--all good stuff. But its only once a month
But bang for buck-a trailie you can ride almost any time you want. You'll learn some pretty awsome bike control skills -and if you need a tutor I'll get baby bikie to sort ya out

What makes you a biker if not the enjoyment of riding? I don't care if im riding a MV Augusta or a Harley, i always have a blast... I consider myself a biker because of that.

And yes my style of riding was scaring other motorists on the road, I will admitt this is my fault as Im the one in control of my bike. So I've done the right thing (I think) giving it up and staying off the roads for a while.

So your throwing a skidmark minus the license loosing thing? Please, PLEASE! No "im leaving" threads and for the love of christ don't put USD forks on the bucket :p (p/t)

Grease Monkey services are up for offer, have some tips and tricks for the FXR too, PM me if you wanna know 'em

Personally, i think certain folk take road riding a tad too seriously... But thats just my 2c

I followed you once (being too scared to overtake incase you took me out) and trying to gain some road riding skill and experience can only be a good thing.
Unfortunately, track riding will not gain you real road skills or experience but is very good fun.
Can you convince skidmark to be as mature and considerate as yourself and stay off the road?

I grew up doing endurance as well as moto x riding from 8 to 19 Off road riding is nothing new for me an off road bike is an extension of my body its so natural because I've been doing it since I was young...dont ask about the technicial side of what or how I ride cos I cant explain it. I only gave it up when I moved away from the farming life and into the city...primary reason was I got sick of paying for parking at uni lol! I tend to thrash bikes a hell of alot harder off road because I love flying through the air, aint afraid to flip tits n ass over the handle bars, and landing in mud is fun.

I've heard about street stock racing, what is it?? For now the bucket racing is the deal breaker, if I like it I'll do it, then upgrade class and bike...if I dont like it, then I'll be definetly selling the bike and getting back into moto x.

As for a motard on a track...its an idea pondering in thought but I think Id end up over shooting the track and taking shortcuts of the circut lol.

Now that I have no "curse of the ex" saying "you can only own one bike at a time" I will be getting a moto x bike either way, the more I think about it the more I want to...

Apologies if I scared you.. didnt mean to. As for skidmark...just call it big sister coaching him...<_<
As for riding on the track totally different environment. I've been a road biker for 7 years, and Im proud to say I've only had one minor bin in that time so must have been doing something right. As for trying to overtake, my lines are moto x lines but on the road...its why I look like Im all over the place lol.

LOL! No Im not doing a Skidmark thread. I admit I have an attitude problem when Im on a bike on the road. There's more to it than "I dont care what happens" The manouvers I do are stupid, dangerous, and other kbers have seen me in too many "oh fuck" moments and somehow I manage to keep it upright. I have no intentions on riding on the road until this attitude changes, and my riding style returns to how it used to be. I dont want to be responsible for an accident or someone elses death.

Until I change there's no chance of me riding again on the road, it's a personal choice. I've taken a step back to look at myself and find me lol. I asked a couple of kbers to take my keys away, store my bike etc but when I had a bike I couldnt give it up or have the self control to ease off things.

The last ride I did was on a cruiser 250. It was a nice bike, I like all bikes (except bicycles and anything pedal power) Every time I went past a cop I thought I was speeding, naturally I looked down at the speedo to see I was only doing 90km/hr. But that's me I like all styles of bikes, why? because each is an art form of its own and has different riding limits.

... and Mack happens to got one in my shed right now - KDX200 that needs a wee bit of a tweak Magneto is stuffed... otherwis emight be ok (Mack?).

I think he wants to sell it...

Hell - go for it Kitty!

gimme details...min I usually ride offroad is 250cc but I could try something smaller lol.

Racing buckets now huh?
So... Plastic or galvanised? :bleh:

On a more serious note, good on ya. It takes some rather sizeable cohones to admit that you're not in a good headspace to be on the road, something that a few more people could learn from (but of course, they wont...)
Good on ya chica, and if you need someone to laugh at you as you go skidding through the runoffs (not to mention standing around lookin sexy holdin a spanner :bleh:) you got it :niceone:

Kittyhawk - It sounds like you have weighed everything up and made your decision. If you have lost the thrill and excitement of road riding, then you need something to fill that void.

Good luck to you.

That void is odd to have. Im not used to it. I gave up music and found biking as a new passion, but now Im working on a new fill lol.
