Peter Sutton, who was clocked at nearly 200kph on the outskirts of Timaru has lost his license for eight months.

Judge Brian Callaghan said it was the highest speed he had ever heard of anyone being clocked.

Sutton was riding on a stretch of road with a 100kph limit and exceeding it by more than 49kph earned him a mandatory court sentence.

Judge Callaghan also fined Sutton NZD 750.

oh yeah, and if speed cameras would register and take a photo of my bike at over 200k's it would be worth framing and putting on my wall, i would be happy to pay the $10 for the photo, not so happy about paying for the speeding ticket.

Yep, if you get caught going 200kmph, it's either "going to court and $750 fine" OR the "birdie" from the HP cop.

Luckily, me and F/F were able to take the "birdie" option.
