Define quick and economical.
A litre sports bike is fucking quick, but with the taps fully open will drink hard. An RGV250 is quick (for a smaller bike), but still not economical. As the poster above says, his Katana is quick and good on fuel, but how quick do you want? And at what price. Going faster will almost always require more fuel burnt.

yep well i suppose he was was meaning in general as bikes like a vtr100 use fuel like there is no tomorrow even when u cruising where as my katana even when thrashed is reasonably good on fuel, but yea riding it like ya stole it will always result in more used fuel in the end so ...

with my little ol'hornet, it gets 260km from a 16L tank ... usually gets to about 6L before the reserve needs to be kicked in 16km per litre milage usually.
What sort of tank do you have on yours?

Mrs Oakie has a '91 Honda Jade which is the predecessor to the Hornet. She consistently gets 25km/l. although she doesn't ride it hard at all. So, 225km on a 9 litre tank then reserve.

I got 270km around 250km usually still havnt been close to running it out, on the 270km i filled it right to the top of the tank and it was still saying only 14L on the pump, there a 16L tank so......

The best I've done on open road is 19km/l, and around town generally 16-17km/l.
It does feel like I'm always in gas stations, but you get that with a 16l tank...

They are not the most economical bike, I'd get maybe 220 a tank........my Duc gets 180km's to 10 ltrs which is almost identical to the 250 hornet, I guess it's the economy of fuel injection.

And yet, for some strange reason, I don't care about the milage consumption! If I can fill my little ol'hornets tank 4 times in a single day, I know I've had a good day's pootling!

Or your tank has a leak.

Or your tank has a leak.
That was Daisy (RZ250), Ixion had her sorted out with one of his usual spiffing ideas.
Little ol'hornet just needs a 35L tank to cope with my pootles...

Far out that is good!
My old 91 750 Kat only does about 230-40 km to a tank and I know,it's absolutely shitters.
There are several reasons but the main being that it's nearly hitting 100,000 km on the clock.
