Come up to Tauranga - our cops run red lights just like all the young mums in urban assault vehicles (probably too busy putting on makeup whilst talking on the phone to notice the lights are red, I suppose) do.

Can't you ring *555 and get a form sent out, complete and sent it in to complain on an infringement? I know you can do this for joe public - can't see why the Police should be any different.

While he was driving???
Yep! Admittedly it was typical nose to tail auck traffic, y'know everyone about 3m from each others bumper doing 50km/h. I couldn't believe it. This was immediately after taking both hands off the wheel to fetch a pot of what looked like lip balm, then applying it...

Uuhh yeah! This is Auckland where yuppie guys have got in touch with their feminine sides and can multi-task. They can even put eyeliner on while driving and using a cell phone. You hicks have no idea.
But the lip balm is a new one, he must have been going to his yearly review.

I wonder how I should interpret this comment.
The Police are a pillar of our society for everyone to look up to. They do not break they law when no emergency exists. When an emergency exists, they clearly display this by visual and audio means and society (well most) give way to this in order to assist the Police in carrying out their duty.
If Police don't drive through compulsory stops where there is no emergency, they do not lie, they do not speed and they do not drive while entoxicated, then I'll have a Tui's please.

Even the bike scene has changed, all these people who want prety lights on their bike and shit, and the ones who worry about their hair, it's getting a bit to queer for me.

What interests me isn't the fact that a cop failed to stop at a stop sign but rather that somebody felt the need to post the story on the internet. If its that important to you then make a complaint instead of starting another whinge thread on an internet forum.
By the way I'm not defending the cop. Part of the job is to be seen to do the right thing and to set an example for others.

this sort a thing reminds me of when i worked in welly. often times you would be sitting in traffic, waiting at the lights when a cop with full lights and sirens blazing overtakes us all, then when he gets through he turns the lights off!! what the hell is that all about?
if this is what is acceptable then i think i will use my flashing lights and horn on my work car!

Laws don't apply to the police, its an unwritten perk of the job.
It's not look we follow the rules most of the time anyway.
If your stupid enough to get caught then you obviously wern't taking enough notice of your surroundings.
