Hi all,
I'm new to biking.
I needed a rear caliper and i bought one on Ebay from jandsmotorcycles.
He told me it was fit for its purpose however the bleed nipples were seized in the caliper and the thing is useless without them.
The nipples are actually crumbling, they are that corroded.
Now i'm out of pocket and still minus a working caliper.....

Well that is one of the unfortunate things about buying from an auction site.

Me I like to touch the goods before committing the $$$

So chalk it up to experience?

But actually seized bleed nipples are pretty common and its usually not too hard to sort with a drill and the right sized screw remover aka EasyOut. I would offer to do it for you - but it appears you're a bit far away

And if the nipples are stuffed - in what state are the pistons and seals?

Thanks Jim,
wish I was in Nz and could take up your offer......
Ive got some bolts in where the bleed nipples are and that seems to be doing the job for the moment.
I'll get it sorted soon (I hope).
Thanks again.

A local engineering shop should be able to remove the old nipples and tidy up the threads for you. The hassle is that most bleed nipples seem to be hardened, which makes it a right pain to drill out yourself with out something like a cobalt drill bit.
Then you could fit some of these http://www.speedbleeder.com/
