Well, I've finallly gone and done it and bought a new bike. Took me a while to make a decision to stick in NZ and buy a new bike, but things fell into place that mean I'm here for a little while yet...and therefore need to spend the insurance money on a new bike.

Test rode a few 600's and decided I still like the CBR best. Was so close to buying one from a dealer when I found this baby and said 'yep, thats my new bike'

Missioned off to Auckland to pick her up last weekend and cruised home to Masterton the longish way (Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo, Napier, Masterton). 750km later very happy with my decision. Riding out of Akl was horrible, but found some blissful bits on the other stretches- the Karangahake? Gorge between Paeroa and Waihi, Te Puki to Rotorua, Taupo to Napier.

A few more km under the tires now that I'm back in Masterton. Couple of quick trips locally, a wee cruise over the takas,

Tried a new trick in taking a pillion too . Never tried that before but gave it a go, took it pretty easy. Cruised down to Carterton on the main road, stopped and asked how she was doing and the mad silly grin and "I like going round corners" said it all. So off to Martinborough we went for some more corners

No prob not me. Was coming back from Napier on Sun. Spent most of the day being sober driver for my mates there doing Harvest Hawkes Bay so didn't ride home till later. Might cross paths out there sometimes tho as it's a common coffee stop

Good on you. Next time I get asked in an interview at work: "Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?" My reply is going to be: On a CBR600RR! :niceone:

Cheers for comments guys. Still really happy with it after the weekend. Yeah, you can do big km's on them no worries. Did 500km on the first day bringing it from Akl to Napier and felt sweet at the end of the day. I've got some throw over soft panniers that sit over the pillion seat for all the gear I need when touring. Had an 04 one before getting this one and rode round the South Island for 2 weeks, and I think the riding position of the 06 is a bit more comfy.
