In the Otago Daily Times today (Friday 8th February)... 53-year-old Alexandra man... 1400cc Suzuki... riding south towards Roxbrugh from Alex... police said it appeared "he became distracted while cleaning his helmet visor"
Crashed Thursday morning at 8.15am... possibly has a broken leg.... ambulance staff initially thought he had spinal and head injuries, but it's probably only the leg.
Speed or alcohol were not factors, nobody else involved in the accident.
The bike hit a cheesecutter barrier, rider was flipped off and landed 8m away on the road.

I initially thought it might be Jantar, he lives up there and is about that age, but I don't think he has a 1400, and he has been online today. Mind you, he could be online composing his "I crashed" post.

Yes, he has a nice shiny VStrom. Wow, clever avatar by the way!

No, not me. And I only know one rider of that age on a Suzuki 1400. Its a GV1400 Cavalcade. I'll check up on him.

Hit a cheese cutter? Did the front get caught in the cables and basically flick him off?? Cleaning visor near cheesecutters whilst riding? 8m is a fair distance to fly and only break leg, lucky fella.

Odd to be saying it's lucky it's only a broken leg, but sadly true....
