So - what happpens to new recruits fresh out of Police College? Do they get a choice of where they're posted or is it simple where they are needed/placed?
I have a friend heading into college soon and I'm curious to see where they're going to possibly end up. Is it a reasonable chance he'll be back in Auckland?

If he wanted to get back to Auckland I believe that it is one of the easiest places to get posted.
Apparently new recruits are not lining up to work in South Auckland.

They get posted....Friend of mine years ago got posted to Auckland Central straight out of Police College....may have changed now but guessing not cos Wanaka would be overun with Cops...;)

I heard they try to place you near your home town. Or near where you request to be. If that doesn't happen, I guess they put you where they need you.
Any of the KB50 should be able to confirm this.

There's EVERY chance he'll be posted to Auckland.
He would have to be lucky if he gets posted elsewhere.

Healthy young men running around working up a sweat as they go. Sometimes in uniform if they are doing practice drills, sometimes in shorts in tshirts, sometimes in shorts......

I do enjoy the innocent simplicity of women perving at men.

Generally speaking, it's not tinged with the soupçon of bitterness, frustration and resentment which one finds in the inverse situation.

They select where they want to be posted before they go down and are accepted into college when they have space in that posting. So, he should be able to tell you where he's going :)

I always fancied coppers - until I did my work experience at Police National HQ - but I'm afraid it put me off them for life!
Brethren have a similar effect on me after having a psycho family of them as neighbours for four years. Can't even see one in the supermarket now without wanting to smash their heads in.

My late father loathed the one cop I did go out with for a while - said he gave him the creeps every time he came around because he used to feel like he'd done something wrong! And no, it wasn't a guilty conscience! The guy turned weird (correction, weirder) after we stopped seeing each other and one day he rang up and accused me of contacting a rape victim (to this day I have no idea who he was talking about as I didn't know any rape victims) and giving her a hard time. He refused to believe I hadn't rung this girl and started giving me a hard time at work so I laid a complaint with the PCA about his behaviour. Nothing came of it but at least he stopped hassling me.
I am not a fan of rugby players either, they think they are god's gift!
