Well this afternoon I swapped my KTM for a MV Agusta Brutale-R :devil2:
This bike is some serious porn as was the SD-R but the Brutale is so much better to ride on the road.
Got a ride over to Coroglen tomorrow morning so will take some pic's of my new baby then :niceone:

Well straight off the bat it's far "nicer" to ride on the roads...much smoother.
The SD-R was/is a track bike...a freaking machine, but just not suitable for Kiwi roads.

Some nice twisties will be ridden tomorrow so will see how see really goes :sweatdrop

Interesting comments mate. I haven't ridden one but from drooling over road tests it seemed like the SD-R would be the perfect bike for Kiwi roads. It'll be interesting to hear why you think not: suspension? power delivery? riding position?

There's no getting away from the class of the MV and I'd have one just for the porn-appeal but how have you found the riding position? I've read it's a bit cramped for those of us taller than average?

Looking forward to hearing more you "looky looky bastid"!

Suspension and "seat" which has been called a plank of wood a dozen odd times.
The standard Superduke would be "perfect" for Kiwi roads as it have softer suspension and a comfitable seat.
They're amazing bikes to ride(SD)! Exceptional in traffic due to their taller than most riding position which allows you to see over the top of cars and read other traffic easier.
The power delivery can only be compared to an RSVR's....pulls from beginning to end!!

I should add that at some stage I'll prolly buy a old '05 SD and make it track dedicated

Well done Christopher. I see it's had the sports pipe conversion too - nice however, at idle (warm) very gently open up the throttle and if the revs jump to 2+ then we can fix that. If the Epron chip was just plugged in during the pipe change over then it needs setting up properly.

Another thing, get some of that thick film stuff for the headlight. I shattered mine at it cost $800 to replace. I've got some spare if you need it.

You're in for a surprise tomorrow... trust me.

Well what can I say?? Have just done Tauranga to Coroglen and back, fark me...dang I say...DANG!
MUCH smoother on the road than the SD-R and the SC's that it's shod with were simply divine and gave me a sense of surety which is always appreciated in a new bike.
Took me a while to adjust back to an inline four's power curve and lack of torque but on the way back things were considerably better for me.

Will do a better write up when bourbon isn't such a great priority

No way, I like our toaster, nice momento to go with all the other stuff we have, Aprilia clock (doesnt work, say no more), various Suzuki, Kawazaki, caps, etc. Now we have to start dressing him all over again in MV attire.

As I have the inside info, Im happy to take bribes. But, did I see this coming? Hell no, not a bit. We were looking at one of these 6 months ago thinking we would never be able to have one in the longest time, but Master Chris managed the mean deal as usual (hey, the shop doesnt have to agree do they).
All started on Tuesday when Chris call into Strada to check out the Aprillia Shiver.
Was keen to go for a pootle on it today but the weather is crap, never mind, my turn will come. Keep peeking in the garage though and pinching myself, happy to see this one sit in the garage for a while.

Well took the 'Brute' out for a 40km ride this evening, as ordered to (I always do as Im told :innocent:)
Firstly, OMG OMG OMG OMG! and one more OMG
This is definitely a bike for experienced riders I would hate to see a salesman let someone out on a test ride without satisfying themselves they have a reasonable amount of riding experience.
It feels really short, but when I got home and made comment of this, we stood it against the 14 and it really wasnt that much shorter, it just feels like it is.
Its an extremely lively bike and the power is very raw and flighty, especially around town. You have to concentrate when cornering because it disappears into the corner so quickly, no need to worry about running wide, more concerns about running narrow, if there's such a thing.
The rear view mirrors are just for looks (excuse the pun), pretty useless. Quite a bit of vibration coming through the bars but once revving a bit this seems to settle,(but not the mirrors, dont depend on seeing anything much out of them).
The KTM was definitely easier to ride in general, but this is much more comfortable. The seat actually feels like a horse saddle, shaped the same but causes the rider to slide forward onto the tank (OK for girls I guess).
The rev counter goes up to 15,000rpm but I didnt dear go over 10,000rpm. At 9,000rpm in 3rd your doing 136km, in 2nd about 78kms, perfect for the tight stuff but so snatchy on the throttle that you really need to play in 3rd.
This is a bike that will take quite some time to master, so I expect it may grace our garage for a while yet

Just ride it a gear higher than you normally would, the R will pull off idle, no snatchiness, just smooth accel'n, and yes they do corner well. Had a 'moment' myself nearly taking out an inside marker peg with my left shoulder on an exit not long ago (thought I was goin in nice n hot....shoulda been 20km hotter-on the Senna). You can trust the MVs far beyond a normal bike, then the R will impress you even more.:woohoo::woohoo:

I still see myself owning a RC8 in the future but may just wait for its second generation to come out. In saying that there's 3 other bikes that I have my eye on too.
It also comes down to which Co. I'll be contracted to

You should do a reality show next time... I can see the name already.. "Gone and done it" (can I be camera man/anonymous test rider?)

Guaranteed no bike sits idle around here (if it is, I'll hop on it). RC8 is definitely on the list, but think we will enjoy this one for a bit first

I bet you will! Always eye up the Brute and F4 at Motomail and dribble until someone snaps me out of it.
