Well that's my plans for the weekend down the drain.
Made an appointment to get tyres changed.
Dropped wheels off.
"Will they be ready by closing today?"
Yep definitely mate, come in at lunchtime and pick em up.
Came in at lunchtime after driving an hour to get them.
Tyres not ready. Sitting beside the changing machine.
Ah sorry mate, got a bit distracted, can you come back monday?
"I don't really have a choice about that, do I now."
ARG!
On the scale of annoying things, that's about a 3 out of 10. But still, annoying.
What do I do with my weekend now?

"No, I fuckin' can't come back Monday, you lazy cunt. I'll just sit here now and watch you fit the tyres, shall I?"
Works every time.
Surprised you didn't just say that, to be honest...

Agree put them on the spot and demand the work is done
You asked if they could do it and what time they would have it done by
You are within your rights to demand the work is done to THEIR qoute!

Obviously you'll be naming and shaming the shop once your tyres have been done on Monday?
oldrider
9th February 2008, 12:44
Have to agree Steam, you are failing us all when you let bad service go unchallenged.
They fucked you around and spoiled your weekend so make sure that they have to wait (appropriately) for your money!
Make them :sweatdrop for it but make sure they understand "WHY". Cheers John.

I would demand to see the manager and tell the prick that you will only pay half for the shoddy service and will tell the next 10 poeple about the business.
You are within your rights as went to a restuarant years ago and waited nearly an hour for our first entree!!! At the end saw manager and agreed to pay for half of full meal. It works.
Cheers Iggy:rockon:

Could be worse - I chap I know went into a shop with his FZR and they they put a rear tyre on his front wheel - with the tread the wrong way to boot!
Still, after putting 8,000km on it, they gave him a new front tyre for free next time he went in to get a set. :P

Whatever you can get away with aye?
I prefer to just no longer do business with them and spread the word. Unless they start costing me money.

Er... I didn't want to say, but now two people have asked me if it was them. Yes, it was.
Do they make a habit of this kind of thing?
I'm just newly back in Dunners, what's the best shop to use?

I'd have told him - "fine I'll be back Monday - what discount are you going to give me?"
After all your time has a value as well.
In fact phone first on Monday before you go there - if they are not going to give you a discount, take your business somewhere else.

It's funny, but when I lived in Dunners (and this is alot of years ago) MCR was a two bit fucken wreckers full of absolute filthy, half saleable shit.

That's so true WT but I have been hearing a few good things about them lately!
So much so that I was even going to make it my business to call in and have a look around their shop next time I am in Dunedin.
This is disappointing, maybe there is more to it than Steam is letting on. :Pokey:
You are not being naughty here are you Steam? :spanking: John.

No no, I didn't want to name them at all really. I'm not really annoyed, I'm just mildly annoyed. It was a boring Saturday afternoon at home, so there was nothing better to do except post about it.
The devil makes work for idle hands.
I too had heard MCR is good.
I just bought a helmet from them and it was at least 20% cheaper there than at a nearby competing dealership,
and they have free ride-on video games.
And they have interested volunteer people hanging around their workshop, that speaks well for their attitude, that they are willing to accept inconvenience to spread knowledge.

they now have probably the largest bike showroom and workshop space in town are agents for Yamaha, MV Agusta, Cagiva, PGo, SYm, Gas Gas, Vespa probably have dunedins best collection of ducatis, and lots of other bikes and have a dyno i have had a few dealings with them over the last year and have found them to be pretty good but i feel they suffer a bit from their success as in everybody wants it now and they perhaps are to busy to make everyone happy.........a mate went to the honda dealer looking for something for his sons 85 250 road bike and was told........fuck off thats pre war.......Rics a good guy and im shure if you mention the fuck up with the tyres he will at least apologise. Did you have a look out the back there has to be over a hundred bikes out there

I deal with them for both my bikes, and they are always friendly, helpful, quick and well priced.
Although I tend to phone ahead an appointment, drop my bike in for a few days, and let them do it when they get the time over those few days.
Was talking to them, and they are definitely very busy, maybe too busy. Even with all the mechanics working back there.

Why'd you not insist it be done? Were they like really big, mean and scary?

From a customer service perspective, the worst thing you can do is create an expectation then not meet it.

I'd be saying "No, Monday doesn't suit, mind if I use the tyre machine myself, at no charge then?" Then start using the machine ..... sure to get there attention!

Take the tyres and wheels home and fit them yourself. It's a useful skill to know. You were able to get the wheels off the bike so you're not completely useless and you have some tools. Get some decent tyre levers and a rubber mallet and you should be good to go. When the tyres are on the rims bowl round to the nearest gas station to pumps them up - take some diluted washing up liquid to help the beads seat.
You save the fitting charge and if they are for the Kawi 250 - well it's not like not balancing them is going to be hyper critical.
The only time a dealer fits a tyre for me is if they do it for free (and thats not often these days)

Oh, I didn't know being shy made you gay.
I'd put you on ignore, but then I'd miss you making a fool of yourself every single day. The comedy-value of your profound ignorance and low intelligence are worth the annoyance of being randomly abused by you.
Every day you demonstrate another way in which I am glad I am not you.
Every day I log on to KB and see something you've posted, and I say "Thank god I'm not that dumb. And he doesn't even realise he's dumb!"
As shy as I am, it is nowhere near the sheer social-ineptness you show.
You really don't know what other people think of you, do you? It's not that you don't care - you obviously desperately care what others think - it's that you lack the insight to know what others are thinking.
Your brain has formed wrongly, or you were beaten or abused as a child and that has retarded your development. Did you mention Aspergers the other day?
Do you sometimes get the feeling that you can't really connect with people, and you often feel lonely, and that you don't really have any proper friends? That's because your brain works wrongly and you're fucked.
As bad as my life can get, I thank the gods of genetics and fate that I'm not as big a loser as you.
You'll die some day and not many people will really care. Some people will come to your funeral, but I don't think many people will be crying too hard.

Bastard mate,as you said it was Saturday so asking if they could do it first was the way to go,as sometimes on a Saturday things come up,but surely when you arrived before closing time they could do it then.I'd expect it for free on Monday, and say to them here is an invoice for my time and travell costs if they charge you,if no charge I would ask for compensation anyway as a piss take, hell they might give you $40 mta vouchers or a store credit,if only to get you back next time.As for jumping up and down, all that does is piss them off.Should have asked for a bike for weekend, they would do it then lol.
