Where do you guys get your race fairings from in New Zealand?

Can't seem to find much info on anyone producing race fairings here..... the nearest is a few companies in OZ or failing that importing from the US.

Surely there must be someone doing them here........?

Need to get an 08 full kit for a Yamaha R6

Only place I know of is Justfairings.co.nz in Hamilton,I'd guess he would need stock fairings to do a new model though.
I had to get mine from US and pay stupid shipping prices.:(

Thanks for those two contacts I'll try them on Monday.

I think the 2008 is very similar bodywork wise to the 2007 (not seen the bike yet) which Just Fairings do produce so perhaps they can sort something, otherwise it'll have to be imported i guess.

If you're going along to the Manfeild or Puke rounds of the NZ champs then go have a talk to Brian Bernard. His team is racing them this year so I'm sure he will know of a place to source some from.

There is the faintest of chances i may enter the Pukekohe round assuming i can get the bike built by then and practice on it a few times but that relies on getting it from Yamaha plus all the bits needed or else i'd be pretty much entering a road bike.

Was Sam Smiths bike built by Brian Bernard or someone else?

I also heard that Tony Rees is a good contact for Yamaha performance stuff....is that correct and if so, anyone got contact numbers for Bernard, Rees etc to save searching?

Having raced Honda's for a while getting a head start on the R6 kit will be very useful.

Still be good to know who put Sam Smiths bike together though.....

No Dave Cole put Sam Smiths bike together. He has a shop in Auck somewhere I believe. Give him a ring and he'll tell you what you need to know. It may be called Dave Cole Motorcycles???

Brian Bernard isn't involved with Sam at all. He runs his own team and has 2 yanks (both on r6's) and 2 auzzies (on r1's) riding for him.

Yes I think Tony Rees would be a good contact. I think he also runs a yamaha shop in Tauranga or somewhere around there. Someone else will have to confim this though.

Dave Cole builds Sam Smith's bikes. If you go to Pukekohe right now, you might catch him racing one of the classic bikes.

Cheers guys........

I had such a range of contacts for all things racing in the UK but still gathering contacts here so all the names etc are completely unknown.

Got some sponsors sorted here now just need to build the bike when it arrives and i want that done as well as it can be.

you can get in contact with David Cole from sam's website http://www.samsmithracing.co.nz/

also...chris Osbourne [I believe is on this website somewhere] is a notable race engineer and race bike setup...worked with craig shirriffs for quite sometime and on the WSS circut aswell.
