Help -
I'm looking for a good dirt rider who's done or is doing comps to attach some video cams to for an art-video thing. I'm doing and have done lots with road stylz riding but really want to have something from the dirt bike fiends as well.

Looking for someone who's able to ride some of the best jump/courses near auckland (or at least north Island) AND who's willing to have a wee backpack on with the recording cams in it - so kind of riding well enough for a good vid-but feeling comfortable enough and riding within ya limits so the gear in the backpack would be 90% likely to survive :)

You'd basically have BBC/RAF bullet cams one to the front and one to the rear of the bike feeding signals into wee cams in a backpack. Looking to shoot in the next month or so :)

here's some links to the road bike stuff I've done and this would kind of be the dirt bike version. the first link is better because there's two pics of the cam images of taupo racetrack...

the vids will likely be displayed in a bit art show in june ish in auckland

You need to ask the question over in the Off Road (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26) forum, that's where the motocrossers hang. We're not really into motocross track jumps in this forum.

Shame I can't get to see the show.

do you know how to move the thread or should i pm mods?Just create a new thread in that forum, don't have to get too tricky! If you are going to do any adventure-type stuff then you can dig up this thread later.

Yep, if you want people freaking out and going wild about jumping a couple of feet off a bump in the track, we're the lard arsed, middle aged adrenaline junkies you're after (*) :woohoo:

If you want less freaking and more height the offroad section would be more betterer :D

(*) Speaking for my own aged arse of course.

Having cameras looking out the back and front of an adventure bike that is rear wheel steering down a gravel road might make for some neat footage? Kind of like how footage from the front bumper of a WRC is facing the ditch half the time.

...may need a closed road for this though as I'm not sure about the police view on that sort of thing. Careful now.

For a fuller adventure bike experience, maybe a waterproof camera getting dunked in some river crossings, some nice scenery like beaches and snow. Maybe the film can start with the bike pulling away from a pub (or icecream shop) and end with the bike/camera slowly tipping over into a muddy puddle after misjudging a rut. I should sleep.

...and the bike? not to start an argument about adventure bike noises, but anybody got a KTM950 with Akras? Sleep.

I guess Transalper may have some footage of a dunking.....

Oh, and Fran, the Transalp can get at least six inches of air on a good day... Spectacular!!

OMG that vid was funny!

ohhh that snow idea mentioned could be rad...
I went out to the moto cross track at ardmore on wed to have a wee look at the scene there... good jumps etc, but mounting cam on rear of bike will be hard because of your giant floppy mud guards! the sub frame is so far back the rear section doesn't have much firm to mount to in terms of getting the camera locked off... it looks like I'd be kind of dealing with a trampoline back there ;)

I'm sure he's good but time spent doesn't really equate talent: I've been riding 25 years and I'm still lame as!!!

if your talking about a back pack camera helmet rig thingy, then my off bike to on bike ratio is way out of wack and would be a rather bad idear.
would be damaged in no time.
i tryed videoing twice so far from my helmet first one didn't turn out do well, but the secound one did, was from the handle bars.
Follow the link in my sig for videos.

hey that vid in your sig was actually ****n usefull - I see what you mean if you bail -the rig will get ripped apart between the backpack and the attached camera-same risk with the road riders-but hopefully no-one will go down... how do you rekon a twin helmet-cam to backpack might work? then you bail and it all comes with you-just gets tossed around a bit-which i could pack out pretty well to minimise damage...

also who would you rate as one of the quickest smoothest motox riders in the ak region-actually does anyone know how to get hold of kathryn prumm - that would be mean as...? hopefully they check in on this forum from time to time :)
