GSXR750 engine restricting

Mate have a 89 GSXR750 Jap import, just found out all 750cc jap import bikes are restricted to 77 horsepower’s. He was not happy when I told him the news. Anyone know what components have been down tune for the restricting. I know the CDI is one of them as the bike does not go over 10rpms. Any inform will be helpful. Thanks

Not sure on the Suzukis but I know that some Kawasakis affected by this had restrictions on the carb movement, so check that the carbs fully open. From memory I think some of the GSXR1100's had restrictions in the intake as well, so even though your mates is a 750 might pay to check that as well.
