Yeah, that would be right. The whole thing is a bloody shambles & the organisation is at an all time low.
Competitors have been ringing up for late entries & been getting abused for their trouble.
This year, for the first time, i will be attending the air show at Mount Maunganui instead, & suggest all other motorcyclists do the same.
For your information, their will only be two competitive sidecars there & a lot of old clunkers & no classic sidecars.

Hey all. Where the hell are you supposed to find information on the races?
When do they start?
Whats the schedule?
Is there a course map?
Where's a camping/parking area?
I cant find any of this information.
How do they expect to be attracting new people to these things when you cant get any information on it!
Of course, if this information magically appears in this thread, someone can edit this post, cos it is an Event!
i scored a booklet out of the motorcyle trader which has the days schedule etc in it.
i will post it up if i can be arsed :soon:

no idea but site says 'With all the precision and planning of a military operation, the circuit is set-up under the cover of darkness with SH2 finally being shut around 6 am. Diversions are put in place to accommodate the traffic passing through whilst plenty of free parking and camping available for spectators.'

Chris Lawrence imparted that knowledge upon me at the classic fest, He claims to be one of the competitive ones, so that leaves only one other.

Chris Lawrence imparted that knowledge upon me at the classic fest, He claims to be one of the competitive ones, so that leaves only one other.I feel thats very sad.... we have a very excited Alex Mac coming from Chch to race in Paeroa for the first time... I suppose he falls into the "old clunkers" category...
I thought it was all about the vibe and the competitveness (and I dont mean Steve Bron competition) of the racing? but maybe I sit with my head in the clouds...

OK, i consider my hand firmly slapped for that comment, Thats the second time i have been wrong today.
Shall i say, only two tier one sidecars & the rest are tier two & equally as much fun to compete on, but possibly not as crowd pleasing as the top end ones.

Is there anywhere to leave my gear?
I don't mind paying if that is required, its just a total pain lugging ATGATT around.

Try the Rugby Club rooms. I understand there is a system for leaving your gear during the racing.

What's the story with the classic sidecars?? They weren't at Wanganui either. Shame cos they're entertaining as hell to watch. Especially those crazy old bastards that have a habit of standing their outfit on it's nose. An AJS I think.

Crochet hooks, knitting needles, darning needles, caustic cleaning chemicals, "KITCHEN UTENSILS AND APRONS" :Pokey: ......
Damn, we chicks have all the equipment to be dangerous. I wonder if that's why you guys have to put on a freakshow .... to get out of arms' reach for your own personal safety, a few laps worth of it anyway .......:devil2::devil2:

This was an awesome day out! The spectator facilities could have been a wee bit better (a few seating options would have been nice), but overall it was well organised.
Some fantastic racing out there - especially seeing Toby Summers in the Supermoto class come flying into the Pirelli Hairpin sideways!
Was good to see a few of my clients out there having a blast too. Will most definitely go next year.
