Finally, after nine weeks in a full arm cast it just came off this morning! Doc said it still isn't fully healed so warned me to take it easy... so I went out for a ride!

Bloody brilliant day for it too, god i've missed it. I swear you go through depression when you're not able to ride..

Funny thing is that the cast, being a cast, was stopping any air getting to my arm so all the road rash is still rosey red and fresh which came as a wee bit of a surprise but nothing a concrete pill of HTFU can't fix.

Expect to see me around, wonder if I have time to go to the AWNR tonight..

It's good to be a biker. Bails n' all. See you on the highway

Aye, they have to say that so you don't sue.

Congrats :niceone:

Totally relate re not being able to ride. I don't know how some people cope only getting out once a week etc.

Where'd you go for your first ride?

Well i'm on Scenic Drive so I took the road up to Piha beach, on the way back just stopped at a cafe for a coffee then went and got a last minute Valentines gift. All in all a fairly easy ride, still have to break my stiff joints in..

Which arm was broken? Did you find it weak sans cast?

I broke my wrist years ago and when the cast came off it was like a limp fish at first.

It was my right ulna, so accelerating hand. And I broke the bone and tore the ligament that stops it from popping out (also had a skin graph on my shoulder in stitches in my head) which is why it took so long to heal..

And the doc's didn't know what was wrong with me so i've had in total 4 different casts and it still ain't fully healed. So it's kinda weak.. but since i've had the casts on and off alot i'm sure yours be alot worse than mine.

I believe it! I had a similar feeling. Life is great with two wheels. Congrats on getting back on!

Well done young man. Chopper would be f@#$*ng proud of you.

Did you notice how light your arm felt after they took the cast off? When I got the pins and plaster out of my hands I couldn't believe how much lighter they felt. (Ached for a while though, and you don't have a lot of strength.)
