Yeah you guys probably take the FXR150 as a joke, but I'm looking for a new rear tire. What would you guys recommend for a long lasting tire? What type of $$ are we looking at etc.

Get a race tyre and cut some tread into it :innocent:

I'd go for a round one, squares and triangles dont seem to work the best in terms of knee down ability.

Is it possible to get a wider tire than the standard FXR tire I have now. It's so skinny it looks like snoopdog.

Yes, but don't even think about it. Manufacturers fit tyres of certain dimensions to their bikes for very good reasons. You do not know better than they do.

Yeah, I'll be going down to the bike shop this weekend hopefully. I want to spend around $100 on a new tire.

Obviously I have to blow up my tire I have now by doing skids before I get the new tire.

If you're in Auckland, there's a front tyre off my bike in my garage you can have. It's a 120/70R17, so will fit the rear of your FXR

FXRs are no joke -- they race the bastards in Buckets (F4/F5)! I believe BT39s and BT45s are what they like to use. I know BT45s are pretty cheap.

Stick to the recommended size, skinny == better handling!

And good stoppies!! Spent an afternoon in a carpark with an FXR and a GN125 trying to outstoppie Andrew Templeton! We got that GN pretty high too!

Pirelli MT75s are good tyres for little bikes, bit more than $100 though ($160 fitted when I bought one last year, from memory)
I believe the bridgestones are also pretty good, if you can get them in the right sizes.

i believe hdtboy is saying it will fit your rear, perhaps his front tyre dimension is the same as your rear?

Hey mate. I had Pirelli MT75's on my FXR. Excellent tyre. Lots of grip. I cant say they lasted too long though, but maybe that was just my riding...

You can put a 110 on the rear. (I think standard size is 100). I found it better than the 100 that I tried on there.
