And in response to your PM.

Come along to one of the Cruisy Wednesday Night Rides. Heaps of fun. Meet lots of friendly riders. We meet - go for a ride - have something to eat - then we go for another ride (home)....

Check out the thread for details

Hmmm ... I could be on for that too. It depends if you were planning on going up SH1 (count me out) or going a more 'interesting' way. I can't confirm yet because Nasty will have just got back from her 6 day round the NI Herceptin ride a couple of days before

You'd better take a puncture repair kit

Cliff hanger that weekend.

You should come along for a watch.

I think the OP has plans, hence the reason for heading to Taupo.

I'm either going to go along for a ride to Taupo and back or will be staying at home. Undecided yet. For those that are not interested in going to the "Cliff Hanger", this is an alternative...:)

Hi guys, I am not very good organizing things, so I am happy with any decision you guys make. I don't mind what way or road you want to go, I will enjoy any of them. I am going to Taupo to meet some friends and camping for some days, so I won't be coming back with U. cheers

Why not camp out at the Rapa Rumble on the night of the 15th, on your way through ?

Diego, you've done ok so far :) Are you ok with us extending the ride and maybe involving the Manawatu, Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay crews?

Dingoz and I are hatching a plan to do the "900k Loop" of Wellington, Wairarapa, Ormondville, SH50, Taradale, Taupo, Western Lake, Taihape, Pemberton, Feilding, Shannon, Wellington = 897km. I'm just waiting for clearance from the Social Secretary (who will have just arrived back from a 2000k 6-day ride).

If it's a doer, we'll spread the word

Sound good to me. I suppose I will end up arriving to Taupo a little bit later that what I initially imagine

Now look what you've started Diego !

It's entirely your fault, get a kiss from me on the day :bleh:. You have spawned The Great (lower) North Island Loop Ride (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=68242)

It looks like we might try to do a 2-dayer out of it so that it's a rally of sorts so we're looking for dirt cheap sleepingbag-on-the-floor accomm for Saturday night. Dingoz is looking at that.

Now I'm off to track down the guy who wants to do Gentle Annie on the same weekend

I will be camping with a couple of friends at the Mangahuia camping (next to tongariro Nat. park). It is a very nice place to stay. There is a toilet and running water. No showers, but there is a fantastic stream to swim in the morning before riding. It is a Department of Conservation Campsite, so it is only $4 a night. You are wellcome to stay there with me and my friends.

Sweet as, if you are keen - slot your name down on the link in a couple of posts above.

Would like to get an indication on numbers attending so we can organise some accomodation...

Cheers

On the accommodation front, we've got some cabins at the Great Lakes Holiday Park (http://www.greatlake.net.nz/cabins.cfm?listingid=00026330) at a cost of $21 per person so just keep in touch on the ride's thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=68242) and plonk your name in the calendar post (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=1585&day=2008-3-15&) so we know if we need to book another cabin
