85 vf1000f2

HI all i have a 85vf1000f,goes bloody well,heaps of grunt fr a old bike,but it seems to rev high,about 4500rpm at 100ks,is not very good on gas,running it on 98,rear sprocket is a 42 tooth which is about right,anyone had one of these and did it rev high,what was it like on gas :argh:

From (shattered) memory, it should be more like 4000rpm @ 100k.
Define "not very good on gas" for us - at 120K cruising, I wouldn't expect any better than 16Km/l, and a bloody sight less if you open the taps a bit.

The VF1000 was a good bike in it's day, but was always hard on gas, regardless of how you rode it.
