I think I'm getting fucked and could use an opinion (or 200) on my situation.

- Came off my bike on 31st December 2007. All surface damage, no structural / mechanical (save a broken peg).
- Delivered to Red Baron, Gt North Road (auck) on 4th Jan.
- Damage report finished on the 15th Jan.
- Insurance company received claim on the 17th.
- Repairs 'began' sometime between the 17th and 22nd (guessing) as I called on the 22nd and they said they'd ordered parts.

- They are still waiting on 'parts' it is the 19th Feb today.

28 days just to get parts? For a Hyosung?
I had a box of stock parts delivered direct from Korea when I first got the bike - took 4 days to ship. What's Red Baron's big hold up - am I getting fucked over? What are your thoughts?

I feel your pain, but to be honest, 28 days isn't that long. Be patient, as good things come to those who wait.

Isn't too bad IMO - when I ordered some new OE bars for my Kwaka they took ~3 weeks, plus they only put an order into the factory once a week, so it was just over 4 weeks in total.

See, this is why I am much more efficient and just write them off instead. Much easier and you get a new bike out of it...

while four weeks for parts may seem ridiculous, i've seen/had worse

the biggest joke is that it only takes 3 days by airfreight and costs the same too

Suzuki OEM parts seem to take 2-3 weeks to arrive ex Japan when ordered via a dealer. Anything up to a month is probably not noteworthy.

Still, you are dealing with Red Baron. Hope you applied Vaseline before bending over.

One KTM owner (I heard) had to wait a month or two to get some parts from Australia

Well, I too had to wait that long to get the claim (and theres no ordering parts here) lol

have they given you a courtesy bike?

i know a guy who had his 929 at mt eden for 2 odd months waiting for a new chip for the injectors or something

first he got a 1200cc motoguzzi, and once he had worn the tyres square they gave him a demo zx6r!

After calling twice a week for info they've just gotten back to me... to let me know they still don't have a date.

Now I don't know the whole story - but one of the mechanics (who's always been brilliant to me) called back to let me know they are chasing it up - but don't yet have a date. He'll call me when he has more info.

During this conversation he mentioned that it normaly takes 3-4 weeks to get parts and not to worry too much - since the order was only made on the 7th. After hanging up I realised he was must have been talking about THE 7th OF FEB.

Which means that they received sign-off from the insurance company to begin repairs at least two weeks before they ordered the parts. Umm, now call me an impatient asshat but isn't this a bit bullshit?

Two weeks just to place the order - two weeks after they've finished the damage assessment and agreed on repairs with the insurance co....

I am not a happy camper.

hyosung parts that are not held in stock including things like alternator covers and some select fairings are back order 3-4 weeks from Korea through KawasakiNZ and even then due to the demand for some parts particularly wheels and subframes that are ex factory which we know can be anywhere from 4-10 weeks.

If they're waiting on parts then there's not much you or they can do. Just sit tight, you'll be on the road soo enough.
