Squeaky brakes SJ50

I got my Suzuki SJ50QT today. I took it out for a (sedate) hoon around town to get to grips with the machine, it goes really well, but often the brakes squeak, both the front and back brakes. It sounds like a bird chirping, quite a different sound to my pushbike's squeal of the brakes. The scooter has drum brakes, and they seem effective enough when used together.

How can I stop the squeaking?

SJ50 factory shoes are awful

My SJ50 also made awful brake noises, from brand new. Plus, they weren't terribly great for stopping

I'll grab some of those brakes soon, cept I can only see rear brake shoes on there. Not that that's a problem, since I've realised it's the rear brake squeaking. I'm not particularly mechanically minded, would a motorbike workshop be able to fit these for me, reasonably cheap?

I've decided that once I've paid off the SJ50 (about 8 weeks) I'm going to buy some more parts for it, from scootling. What are the most bang-for-buck ways of increasing performance in an SJ50?

I did 7g rollers and a kitco type 3 pulley. That bumped the speed from 61kph to 70kph (gps verified). However, I did then have a lot of trouble with the variator deciding to not "change down" on hills, which resulted in hill climbing at 30kph. That kind of sucked, but was cured by having everything pulled apart by a bike shop (twice). I don't know if it is a known issue with these parts, but both myself and another SJ50 rider had the exact same issues with the exact same parts.
