View Full Version : New Draggin cargoes

AMPS

Draggin' jeans have some new cargoes out, the legs unzip at knee level leaving a nifty pair of shorts. The zips are protected so as to not scratch the bike or you.
They're only available in a darkish grey at present @ $269.00
I'm getting a pair because I think they're versatile for riding to the beach, barbies etc where you don't want to be stuck in longs.
What do others think?
Good idea or not?

None of the draggin jeans come with built in knee armour, but you can buy it seperately from them, I think its velcro they use to attach to the inside. Im waiting for my set to arrive. FARKING MOTOMAIL AND THAT RECENT SALE!

Bloody hell $269.00 you got to be joking you can buy a pair of draggin jeans from the usa for NZD$140 landed and thats retail. not zip offs but Im sure they wouldnt be $269.00.

I wish retailers here would acknowledge some of us potential shoppers aint stupid enough to pay some of the high prices they demand, they actually loose out on many sales cause many guys I know shop of shore via the net

sorry if that offends :calm:

but its true

Well, we could give them away. But then 30 people would be quickly unemployed. We can only work on the price Draggin charge us.
If we lived in a country of 250,000,000 people we'd have good buying power too.
I wonder what will happen when everyone buys off-shore?

I'm tired and grumpy today, so I won't give a economics lecture on the reasons behind it, but both Lou and Quasi are correct here.

The only way to keep all the sheeple happy, as has been proven throughout the continental USA, is to have a local-ish shop that charges the lowest prices.

The only way to achieve that is for the local-ish shop to in fact be a small appendage of a giant, world-girdling corporation that can apply its efficiency of scale to the cost of goods issuing from every orifice, no matter how remote, of its behemoth corporate carcass.

If you don't mind AMPS, Colemans, Red Baron, Holeshot and Haldanes all becoming Walmarts under a single manager (and three of them would, of course, be immediately closed), you can have your Draggins from the shop at low cost.

Of course, Lou will be replaced in his job with a non-English-speaking immigrant at $7.50 an hour, and you can forget about test rides on Buells, because they'll all just be shrink-wrapped on shelves, ready to be forklifted into the back of your enormous pickup truck.

But that's the Brave New World for ya, Quasi... make your bargain with the Devil if it'll get you what your heart desires.

Thank you, jrandom.
There is more to living than squeezing out the last buck.

Perhaps your right globalisation is international sodomy, unfortunetly however embrace it or become a victim to it thats the choice, end of story.

I've been seriously considering the Draggin loose fit jeans, anyone have those? Are they like regular baggy jeans or still tight eighties styles?

As for globalisation - if I can pay individual shipping and buy retail and still get items here for 40% less then I will. I'm not going to support stores that rip new zealanders off. Retail NZ needs competition.

It started as a question about the response to this style of pants, and as with so many things the discussion has evolved.

LouYep, but it was still market research and you slipped the price in there. A not so cunning attempt at a sales pitch don't you think.
I think stevezx6r is quite right there.

Read jrandoms post again. it's not a rip-off, it's a fact of living in a small country. There aren't enough buyers here to survive purely on quantity and small margins. Our sale specials are often at near cost in order to clear stock, but those prices are not sustainable.
None of us are getting rich doing this, I know for sure that I'm not.
But working in an industry you love makes up for a drop in earnings.

What you say is absolutely accurate Lou with regards to economies of scale size of NZ population etc, its I suppose unfortunate that in our modern age we can shop in as many countries as we like. Not good for the NZ retailer, I can sympathize and Im not being a smart Arse.I work in Export Sales and look after 60 odd countries with Auto products we to get a hammering from the Asian competitors. The global economy is just the way it is and within it there are as many choices as you could want.

Cheers

Alright, I'm duly apologetic at my blatant attempt at market research. I'm dusting off the hairshirt and the staff are smoking frantically to supply the ashes.
I'll never, never, ever do it again.
Lou
PS We've got other Draggin's too. (taps side of nose, winks)

I'll pay more to buy in NZ up until a certain point but like you say some low volume items are never going to be profitable.

I buy lots of computer gear and some things I always buy in NZ but some I always import.

Maybe a process could be developed that NZ retailers can faciliate parallel imports for a small margin to get people in the door?

Well, I did my bit for the local economy and bought a pair. They're quite a loose fit in the legs and low waisted. Real comfy and the kevlar does help keep the breeze out.
