Next 250 ride

ime for a nice 250 ride. This time we are going to stop at coroglen for burgers, because the $6 scallop buger is shit hot yeah?!

We will meet at kopu at 10 for a 10.30 departure, because 9 is too early and I like to eat my 4 weatbix in the morning!

Event will run like most 250 rides. It will be learner friendly. It will run on time and it will be organised.

We will use a pointer system, the leader will point to who ever is 2nd. The person who the leader points to MUST stop and wait until the last person (i.e., TEC) passes, They must then get in front of the TEC. This keeps on repeating. it keeps the ride fluid and no stops.

The stops will be minimal. Gas stations and Lunch only.
First stop will be kopu.
Second will be Whitianga (gas only short stop!)
Third will be coroglen (lunch, long stop)
Fourth will be Waihi (gas and group split)

From waihi, we will decide on where to go, either go back to kopu via whangamata (i.e., go back the way we came) or go back to kopu via paeroa (short, straight and boringish).

We will not be stopping at the lookout to take photos, you may stop on ur own to take up photos, but please try to stay in front of the TEC.

We will have a TEC, A TEC is vital to keep the ride flowing nicely. I'd prefer it if someone volunteered - its an easy, but important job. All you have to do is make sure you are the last person on the ride. If you see anyone pulled over, stop and check that they are ok. I will give everyone who comes on the ride my cell number, and i'll need the TEC's number. In the event of a bin, first make sure the person is OK, then call any required ambo's etc then TXT (don't call as i cant answer when riding) me to let me know. I will call back when I get the TXT.

This is a 250 ride. Bigger bikes are welcome to keep me company, but please don't ride too fast in front of new riders and it might encourage them to "keep up" and bin.

Depending on numbers i'll call the coroglen burger joint and let them know a day or two in advance, so that hopefully they will be prepared and we don't have to wait so long for lunch.

BTW, today one thing led to another and I ended up doing the backwords loop (the whole loop) from lunchtime onwards. took me 6 hours, and I cant wait for that one coming on 8th. Roads are mint except 4km section after whitianga (thats going backwords loop) where they are putting new seal and a 500m section atount Te Mana. apart from those ones , all was sweeeet as, excluding the few melted tar bits.

Anyhow , enough bla bla. I'm in , Gtr boy give us details about westgate and we will meet you there.

I was really not impressed with the way New Zealand puts down new seal.. They just leave the gravel on the road and bugger off waiting for the traffic to sweep it away..

It got put just on my road that I live on over night and I had no clue about, I was going pretty quick down this road seeing as i do it every day and suddenly discovered i was in gravel!

Panicked somewhat I pressed on the rear brake (didn't slam it on) and still the rear tyre locked up, rear of the bike slid to the side and with a bit of fancy leaning I managed to the bike facing forward again and off i went with my heart jumped up in my throat.

My old man has a bit of swing with the local council so he gave them a wee bit of a bollocking and only a couple of days later they got a sweeper truck down there to sweep the gravel off the road.


Bloody unacceptable.. This sorta thing just didn't happen in England.

Hmm my baby is horribly dirty....did over 3000 ks doing the harley nationals in Palmerston North and then touring....took my dad and his mates round the coro and they loved it. (dad said i had to go last cause I was giving him heart attacks .... daam harleys are slow and Ive improved since the last time he saw me binn!_) my baby, she still hasnt been cleaned. Not good, Im a bad parent.....thank god I dont have kids ehhhh lol.........they be hella dirty.

Another thing is, word is there's lots of road works on the trip so gravel is likely.. we'll need to watch out for that and preferbly have a marker just to warn people to take it easy.

Im being reemed for not attending my bestys solo performance at pacifica 2morro ,,,,,,and in the spirit of being a besty.... i am not coming. This has been a hard decision that I tried to get out of but my biker spirit was broken as I was reminded tonight I have friends who dont see the light of bikes nor understand why I DONT WANNA GO. Apparently my life is not just about bikes and while its refreshing that non bikers still seek my company i will with out a doubt be miserable in crowds that bump me, piss me off and be bored but alas bestys do things they dont wanna. Thats what makes us bestys....I will think of you all with pure jelousy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, be good :(,,,,,,,,,,,,, dam

Such an amazing day everyone, so glad we made it.

Those Scollap burgers were to die for:drool:. The melting taste of scollaps together with pamesan, and french cheeses and parsley and pepper - food of the gods. The fish was so yummy and tasty too oh boy. I'm getting hungry just by thinking about it. We got business cards so next time we should call :mobile:from Whitianga and they said we will not have to wait- just turn up and eat :drool:

We saw the BIGEST HOLE - gold mine in Waihi - Thank you Rob for showing it to us that was Mind Boggling, trully an example of mans enginuity. Now I wanna do a ride to the bottom of the hole ...:laugh:

The Roads were mint and company was superb.:eek:
