I've been having a bit of trouble finding a set of spokes for my 93 RM250 - (19" Rear Wheel).
A genuine set from Suzuki costs $180 +gst, but I'm sure there must be cheaper (and better) ones for sale somewhere..
anyone know?
PS - only two are broken, but I was thinking to get a whole set anyway

There is a wheel rebuilding outfit in Palmerston North. They have a web site but I cannot remember their name except they were pretty easy to find.
$180 is not too bad.
Cheers
edit - Hamco industries? rings a bell....

Good one, I'm betting you have 3 per wheel, albeit thick ones.
Probably only the Hardley Fatarse can claim not to have spokes (dish wheels)

I have a spokeshave in my tool cupboard.
You can borrow it, if you like, and whittle your own.

Don't be a pussy. I've changed the rims on my RG mags.
Well maybe I paid someone to, but it proves it can be done.
{edit} yeah $180 is rich for a bunch of spokes. I've always been a bit lucky when I've built wheels I've found the right spokes from a wrecker or old wheels I've had around.

I called up Tom Morris and he's hookin me up with a set of stainless steel spokes - $150. I probably could have just had the broken ones replaced, but i'spose its better to be safe than sorry...

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t stainless has a higher tensile strength but MOE is steeper so they would be more prone to snapping on a dirtbike whereas plain steel would likely stretch.
I think stainless ones are great for road but not for the dirt? Is this true?
