View Full Version : A pic of you racing

I don't want anyone on here who does not put a pic of them self racing.
If you do not have a pic of you racing/you do not race, please read only. This thread is for the ones that have been/does race.
But feel free to admire the ones who do. Because I tell you: To ride a bike is brilliant. It makes you happy. But to race a bike will get you to heaven.
Right.
That said, add the pick of your self that you really like, the one that really is you doing what you love to.
Here mine:

So many to choose from, so little space!!!!
Racing is a funny thing and it depends what you want from it as to wether you're enjoyimg yourself or not. Being the ultra competitive bastard I am, I've had a pretty up and down past 6 months. A combination of putting too much pressure on myself and not gaining the reults I expected has left me feeling a little dejected. However, one truly good day on the track, as I found out on Sunday, will make you feel like there's nothing you ever want to do as much as race.
Maximum respect to Big Dave for yet another wicked shot.

Wanganui 06, was my 1st time back in near 20 years, first time on pirellis and shock valving making it resemble a pogo stick. As everyone knows, ZX10R's are the easiest bikes in the world to set up, should have had it fully sorted after the 1st practise really. Apparently 1.6 seconds a lap is the difference between being a useless cunt and a Demi God.

Pretty tiny effort compared to those above but this one is of me on my roadbike, an '86 VFR400R at the sprints. Racing in a way... Still find it hard to believe the crusty ol' thing got to 212kph!

Yeah I like smaller bikes too I'm back on CBR250's. There's a cool series for 250 4 strokes here in Melbourne with prize money, I'll see what I can do.

The bucket and I departing the esses at the end of the straight at Winton in mid 2003. Damn near built that thing from scratch, and we enjoyed every minute of the racing. Shame now that it is in other hands, but great to know it will be used in anger again this year, starting with the Barry Sheene Memorial Race Meeting at Eastern Creek in about 4 weeks time.

What years did you race at Rosebank Pete? Do you remember any of the flattrackers? I didn't race at Rosebank, but raced bikes on our rough dirt track on Waiheke. How'd you like to take out the tyre wall? Or get a foot long splinter from the log wall? I got the Rosebank Flattrackers over a couple of times to give us a fright.Rob Campbell rode his speedway bike on the track a few times, but you needed brakes as one corner was a hairpin.Do you remember Rosebank like this? That is me on the Rickman in my avatar, the photo is taken from where the pits are now, looking towards the city.No embankment, and the Te Atatu end was all pine trees.
Trials is not racing, but it is motorcycle competition....after 25 years at it I'm still hopeless, but enjoy the challenge.

Raced there 87 - 97. And around the country. Heard about your track, but never came there my self. Rosebank was all nicely fenced up when I started.
Knew some of the flat trackers: Shane Scanlon, Allan Huljich, Paul Butler, and what was the possum hunter on that old BSA's name... he later converted it to a solo and raced in the novice class. A real character. Was it Bruce?

I left Auckland in '85,came back in '96,so probably saw you race at some point.Bruce and I go back a long, long way - we both had BSA singles and rode everywhere together at one stage, met him at the Classics a couple of weeks ago....and we shooks hands...Trigger use to live in the same flat as my wife in those days.Shane,Allan and the rest of the crew came over in about '92,they really enjoyed the track as it was a bit weird,I rode their bikes,no wonder they could nearly lap me.
You can see a small dirt oval in the infield of the Waiheke track - the speedway guys put that in and were supposed to ride it,but they never did.We did,but it was really hard work.....just one long corner, forever. That photo of Rosebank is probably '78 or '79,when the stock bike class first started. The Rickman was very good, but I needed to modify it too much, and it was my street bike so didn't make it into a flattracker. But a couple of owners used it down there with good results.

After much hooliganisms on the road got into a bit of trackday fun...
Which in turn somehow became racing.... Only done 2 races (due to serious lack of funds) but will hopefully get there one day....

Here's a couple, typical of the little bikes I usually race.
And these (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/5094) two (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=76765&d=1195188549) just to show I'm not a total Tar Baby.

You're IN MY WAY NickO!!!
That's better:cool:
Racing is the shizzle when it goes right, and once I buy 'em, there's a wee sequence of me riding straight into the rear wheel of a superduke. It aint so much fun during those moments.
