Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash Overnight
Tuesday April 17, 2007 11:07am Posted By: Kevin King

Tulsa - A Broken Arrow man was killed early Tuesday morning after a motorcycle accident on Highway 169 near 81st Street.

Witnesses say the cyclist was going faster than 100 miles per hour when he crashed into the back of a semi truck between 81st and 91st Street at about one o'clock Tuesday morning.

Investigators say evidence shows the cyclist was going about 120 miles per hour at the time of the impact. It took the truck driver more than a quarter of a mile to come to a stop. When he did, he stepped out of his rig and found the motorcyclist dead at the back of the truck.

"The truck driver was not hurt," says Captain Matt Kirkland. "He said that the impact was so strong that he thought he was hit from behind by another truck."

Officers said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident.

So why'd it take him a quarter mile to stop?

probably.....it's not really tasteless, sometime it takes these kind of photos to educate people. Some riders think they are bulletproof, they need to see this kind of shit to wake them up a wee bit.

Have to agree with ya dyers... It's like those fuckin "rubber neckers" on the motorway that slow down to have a jacksie at an accident across the barrier in the other direction... next thing ya know there's mayhem behind them as ppl start piling on the brakes... ppl who actually have their eyes on the road.

This is one for the rubber neckers  - nothing educational bout it. Keep to the speed limit... simple really!

Back when I was 16 I was following a van too closely and decided to pull off the highway to have a piss in the woods........couldnt see around the van of course.....so pull off sharply.....and there is an 18 wheeler semi parked just on the shoulder with the driver having a nap. Needless to say I almost ended up on the darwin awards with that one. I would have prolly impacted at about 60 m.p.h. Certain death.

Never again have I pulled a manuever like that. Almost never tailgate and NEVER pull off onto a shoulder without looking WAY ahead.

I had a friend who died going under a truck. Hit by sunstrike, he didn't see the truck had stopped. He was decapitated. His funeral was a closed casket. 20+ years on, I still remember Erin.
I'm glad I never saw his body, but am still pissed with him telling me he was older than me (I found out at his funeral what his birthday was).
We had to send another friend with the cops to tell his grandparents their grandson was dead (they didn't know where he was living). Not a good day at work, thankfully none have been that bad since.
