Hi all,

In the interest of finding a good ride for my friend who has just begun riding could anyone comment on some good rides and where they start.

These are currently my favorites

Coromandel loop, although this is a bit long
Highway 22 - this is great
Whitford to maritai to clevedon to kawakawa bay, and then back :)

What about rides out west? Up north? Who's got a favorite they can share, prefereably free of :Police:

To Akaroa is good, any one going for a ride that way you can count me in!

And we are going to go through Aurther Pass and loop back through lewis pass, that should be fun.

Any suggestions on good places to ride in chch would be great as I'm not from round here

I ride on the road, which is good. This one time, at band camp, I rode on the bit next to the motorway. No - not the shoulder - the bit next to that, where you run out of asphalt. And these two times (when not at band camp) I rode on the footpath, which is not the same as when I rode up onto the footpath to parkit. (I've done that numerous times.)

But twice I rode on the track, and many many years ago, when I was a youf, I used to ride on the dirt, the road, the grass, whatever.

And I've ridden on snow twice, which wasn't the time this year when I rode a snowmobile on the snow. That was the bestest.

Went out to Piha on the weekend which had some good windys, although road is very narrow in the begginning with lots of blind corners (trees and banks on the inside of almost every corner).

Best of all you can go for a swim, work on the tan, and generally just perv at the chicks that were swimming in thin white t-shirts!! :love2:

I have been know to ride down so called "No Exit" streets and squeeze past the barriers. Grass, gravel, dirt, snow and some times footpaths.(Did I miss anything?)

My brother lives on Scenic Drive. His driveway entrance is on the inside of a blind corner. He's not the the only one either.

Take care along there

Nice, Piha ride sounds like a good option.....just the long haul to get out into the open along Titirangi road.

The annoying thing with living in central auckland is the ammount of time it takes to get to the open road.

I used to go very often out piha/Huia(Whatipu)/Anawhata/Bethells. Never seen a cop on there, ever. Great roads, especially out past the inhabited areas.....

Yep,but there's nearly always one :Police: somewhere....
Once at wellsford, head north through te-hana take the first road on the right and follow it to waipu. Then you can brave the flocks of :Police: up sh1 to oakliegh, turn left down the mangapai rd,then left down the road to paparoa, back to sh1 then back to wellsford.....Good ride.
